What tune are you guys running?
Hello,
I'm new to Mercedes, coming from BMW and a 16 M3. What tune are you guys running and do you recommend? I have looked at Renntech, Weistec and Eurocharged.
Also, how much of a PITA is it to remove the ECU and downpipes?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. Great choice on moving up to the c63. From what I have read we have a lot of people running all different tunes. You are going to get similar results from most tuners. I went with ACM stage 1 after trying a piggyback for a few months. They are local to me and I posted a thread if you want more details. I didn't want the hassle of having my ecu mailed and downtime on the car.
Where are you located?
As far as the ECU it's about a 3 hour job to remove and replace. The c63 is the only car in the lineup that has the ECU hidden by the passenger side wheel well.
As far as the downpipes. If you want to preserve the stock pipes(no cutting) they will have to drop the motor to swap them. The benefit of this is it makes it easy for them to take the ecu out and flash at this time.
They can remove the stock ones by cutting them but then they are scrap.

Thanks BGM130! I appreciate all the info. I just relocated to Farmington, UT (near SLC) to open a MB dealer actually. So I'll have my techs do it, but wasn't sure how much that involved. Dropping the engine scares me for some down pipes, but I've read that's the way to do it. Wild.
side note, what are the suspension options to lower? I just have HR sport springs on my M3 and it's perfect. Does HR make springs? Also, are they the same as the c300 RWD? Similar to how the M3 springs are the same as the 328 or 335?

Oh that's great. Congrats on the new endeavor. Then you should be able to work with any of the tuners and get it flashed to stage 2. Just wait as they have 50% off sales regularly.
As far as dropping the engine I was in the same boat. I was scared to drop it so I went with the cat back exhaust. It loud enough and Stage 1 is more then enough power for me (for the next few months at least haha)
Losing is something I have been investigating for the spring. Weistech had a sleeve kit and HR is releasing one soon. Unless you want to go really low this should give you the stance you need without compromising he factory suspension. If you look at "ugotmopped" thread his coupe is on the sleeve kit and the stance is perfect.
I cannot answer about the springs being the same.

The car should be here tomorrow afternoon. I'll post some pics when it get's here. But I'll want to start modding pretty quickly. Need to get through break in before I pull the ECU though. I may look into weistec suspension. Anyone have any good vids of catless downpipes with performance exhaust?
