Guess I'll let you guys know if it's legit. Going to have to clarify in person before the service, too... too good to be true.
Was that at a MB Dealership?

If so, can you please let me know which one?

I just called my SA and he's going to get back to me with the price... he wasn't sure off the top of his head without checking.

Thanks.

I highly doubt that 90 dollar quote is right... just the product alone is 20 to 24 dollars if one buys it via a discount store and you need 3 of them. So the dealer is not only discounting the retail price on the oil but also not charging hardly any labor?

Ive done many of these changes on most of my newer AMG's via my Indy tech and he charges 120 dollars including product.

I went to the Penske store in San Diego and this is the bill for the differential lube change. I also did a oil & filter change at same time. But did not ask price beforehand.

Diff.
2 each screw plugs at 25.99 each=51.98
3 trans. oil at 19.99=59.97
labor at $150
Total of $261.95

Oil change:
1 filter at 20.99
1 seal ring at 2.99
9 l oil at 7.99=71.91
hazmat chg.-1.29
labor-100
total $197.18

both =$457.84 and remember they already had it on lift for oil change so the labor chg should have been pro rated.
they stuck it in pretty deep so they are not trusted anymore.

$215

Fairfield, CT, Penske MB Service quoted me 0.6hrs and $215 to change the oil in the read differential.

Last week they charged me $140 for my first engine oil change at 1,000 miles.

I'm still waiting for my SA to get back to me on the price for the rear differential.

In the interm, my Check Engine Oil light just went on... and my SA said it's not uncommon for this vehicle to eat a quart of oil every 1500 miles.

Seems crazy to me. My 09 w204 never needed oil except for at the regular scheduled maintenance periods... like every 10k miles or so.

Does that sound right?

Mine has not used a drop in 9k miles but you need to check the dip stick to see if it is really low as many get a warning but they are NOT low. I had it happen once.

Thanks RDOCA, I do remember seeing that somewhere on the forum.

How did you get rid of the CEL if you didn't need any oil?

You should not get a CEL. If you have a CEL it might be another issue all together When mine said to add oil it just notified me ever time i started the car to add 1qt of oil on the middle display between the speedo

Maybe I shouldn't have called that a CEL...

It just displayed the message that says "Check Engine Oil Level (add 1 quart)"

I guess it's a CEOL, lol.

But you guys are saying that if it doesn't really need the oil that it will just go away on its own?

Yes but if it is full and it keeps returning you might have a faulty sensor.

Digging this back up: any chance you have the part numbers for the plugs on the rear diff?

Rear Diff Service

I had Fairfield Mercedes service the rear diff on my 2017 AMG C63S at 2,000 miles. The quoted me $215, but the cost came to $145.60!

I'm very happy with their customer service !

Parts - 66.15
Labor - 70.75
Tax - 8.70
$145.60

$145 sounds to be about the right price for the service, especially at the MB stealership. My dealership was still quoting me $90-100 up to the moment I dropped the car off, but ended up just COMPing it, so I never found out the official price.

My local dealer quoted me $225, so I said screw it and ordered the $100 worth of parts myself. Looks easy; I swapped the diff fluid in my W204 C63 in about 30 mins and this looks even easier. I'll take some pics and post a DIY next weekend if anyone's interested.
