2016 C63S Estate with wheelspin

Had my 2016 C63S Estate now for a few months and starting to notice that when pulling away quickly or flooring the throttle to overtake, I can feel either wheelspin or axle tramp in the car.

I run in Sport + mode with comfort suspension, sports exhaust and auto drive. As far as I'm aware the ESP is on as the light only comes on if I operate the switch to the bottom left of the centre console next to the touch pad. I thought traction control would stop wheelspin, but find myself applying the throttle gently to stop this problem.

Have I missing something obvious and the ESP/Traction control has been switched off or is it a garage job to get them to check it?

One day I'm going to need full power and I fear going nowhere with traction loss through wheelspin.

Any ideas?

What are the conditions during these events? Are the tires up to optimal temp? I have notived that on cold mornings when I leave my house I have alot more wheel spin on the cold tires but once up to temp I dont have such issues. Oh I run ESP Sport which is less intrusive than ESP On.

You have to remember that traction control is a reactive and not preventative system. When you do things that you describe, you will still get some wheel spin before the system kicks in. Sometimes you can get the wheels completely spinning (car sideways) with the system on. This is because it does take them to recognize and react to the symptoms. Also it has to calculate the best course for action to stop the wheel spin. These calculations take very minimal time, but they do take time.

Thanks for the info guys. The last couple of times the tyres have been cold, but the first time was on the motorway and the tyres must have been warm/hot. It reminded me off my day at MB World on the AMG driving day. I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can do it again. I may try ESP Sport sport setting. I hadn't appreciated there were degrees of ESP and thought it was either on or off.

I can't recall ever feeling it in my E63S, so this has surprised me.

+1

Also, check the tyre pressure you're running.
