Black Mercedes Hood Badge P/N
#177
My black hood badge was only clipping down on one side. The fix for this is to grab tab of plastic on back side of badge from inside the hood on side that clip is not fully engaging. Pull down on badge while pushing the spring lock tab over. With the pull on the badge the tab will slide over and lock badge down on both sides. This worked for me. Hopefully, others find this solves their mounting issue.

Grab the back of the hood badge with needle nose pliers

Ok so with great embarrassment/ remorse - I'm swallowing my pride and realized I made a mistake.....no let me re-phrase - I ****ED UP....
Apparently - the item was NOT purchased from mbpartscenter.com but instead a different vendor. My wife told me she bought from mbpartscebter.com on accident when it was actually a very similar site name - my apologies to mbpartscenter.com

^interesting. So was it indeed user error? Was the part OEM?
Are you still still with the accusation that the part was defective?

I'll also bet you the cost of a replacement badge that your dealer didn't clip it in properly. There's darn near nothing that can be "defective" about the badge that wouldn't caught by a competent inspection. It's a piece of plastic and two springs.

You really ought to delete your posts accusing mbpartscenter of doing something wrong, then.

Does anyone know which part # will fit a W212? I called my part dept today and after giving them the parts # I found previously on this thread they said the new ones will not fit, but what do they know?

I can confirm 1701 will fit. See my earlier post detailing the part number and the installation.

Black AMG Badge
I own a 2017 E400 Cabriolet with the Night package and was looking for the new all black hood badge to fit my car. Looking through the posts it appears that the P/N that fits a lot of the Mercs is 000 817 18 01 or 17 01. However, this was not a fit for my car. After doing some research, here is another P/N that fits my car as well as a number of others: 000 817 16 01.
I believe this part to be a fit for the following:
A Class : W169
B Class : W245 / W246
CLK Class : C209 Coupe / A209 Cabrio
E Class : C207 Coupe / A207 Cabrio
SL Class : R129 / R230
SLS Class : C197 / R197
SLK Class : R170
CLS Class : W219
CL Class : W215 / W216
ML Class: W163 / W164
G Class : W463
GLK Class : X204
GLE / ML Class : W166
GLS / GL Class : X166
GLE Coupe : C292
GLC Class : X253 / C253 Coupe
R Class : R251
