Today SUCKED!
A college girl turned left in front of me. This car only has 600 miles on it. How can I get a new car out of this? I don't want this fixed. the entire drivers side suspension is in pieces.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Women and old people shouldn't be allowed to drive.
They'll never total the car for that... Just make sure you take it to an authorized MB repair shop.

The local MB dealer has a great body shop. I am sure it won't be totaled but I don't think it will ever be the same. Search is on for a replacement. I hear the process to get diminished value is brutal.

Ah this picture makes me cringe. Biggest fear in my car. I always warn people that ride with me that any crash we get into will total my car so prepare for a big crash! I won't take a brandished title or a huge accident on the history report. Diminished value is terrible. People that aren't car people just don't understand. Hope it works out for you. Good luck.

Sucks, sorry!!
As you know, it would be great if it was totaled... that said, it probably won't be.
Best bet is to just have a MB-certified body shop work on it. I had similar damage to my bimmer a few years back and to be honest, the repair left the car feeling ALMOST brand new... the only thing was the steering rack was a little squeaky during very cold weather, but not bad at all. Good luck!

Diminished value not as hard as you think ... depends on your state in the usa
where do you live?
ugh... does your insurance offer new car replacement? Liberty does
im guessing $30,000 repair bill... that frame took a hit, good and fender need placement obviously, headlight alone is $2500, bumper $2000, not even thinking of what's going on in the engine bay, wheel and suspension $5000

I am in TN. If it's totaled, my insurance provides new car replacement. Just waiting to see. If not then I will be filing for diminished value. No way I am keeping it...

In CA. the TLV rule;
Which is Cost of Repairs + Salvage Value ≥ Actual Cash Value. If the sum of the first two amounts are greater than the ACV, the auto is a total loss. threshold for total loss varies per state out here it's 70%

You'd be taking a substantial financial hit in that scenario.

Problem is, at least in CA, unless you've got GAP insurance (and I don't know exactly how GAP coverage works on a purchase, finance or a lease)... ACV on a car with 600 miles on it is not going to be pretty.
You'd be taking a substantial financial hit in that scenario.

Assuming there is no additional significant damage under the skin (suspension arm pierced through something, the unibody/frame is severely bent/cracked), I highly doubt this will be totaled. Suspension bits and body panels might add up to a fairly large sum, but it'll be no where near what it'd take to call this a total loss. The side/curtain airbags didn't even inflate, so it's pretty likely there wasn't enough of a blunt side force to do any "totaled"-level damage under the skin.
Don't get me wrong, the damage looks bad, but by the pictures I don't think that's anywhere near enough to get the thing totaled.

What if someone puts down 10k on a lease, drives off the lot and totals the car. I would assume MB is covered... but what about the 10k down on the lease? Up in smoke?

I remember hearing that somewhere. But still don't really know what that means. Does it just cover MB's ***?
