Recalls are VIN-specific and sometimes can do with cars that were built during only a couple days of production, not necessarily the entire model year.
And as for software updates, if it's tied to a TSB they will perform the TSB work if the technician can determine a fault in the car that requires the work to be done. They don't just perform the TSB fix without diagnosing a fault that the TSB would fix.

Maybe I read his post differently, but I didn't take what he said as saying a software update is tied to recalls.

start stop function doesnt work regularly at all
suspension is super stiff at all times
jerky shifts every now and then in race mode where it feels like i did a bad manual shift lol

so i just went in. spoke to service manager. i advised car was having some jerky shifts, there was a software update late 2016 for this issue, start stop is random, suspension is harsh too. went for a drive with the shop foreman who advised suspension runs fine on drive its just stiffer than the last car all around even in comfort- said start stop theyve had no issues with and its got so many variables on whether itll work or not so thats fine and doesnt need anything, for jerky shifting it wasnt too bad on the drive with him but he advised there is a firmware update so he will do that for me next week on an appointment. so im taking it in next thursday. will update when done!

they should be aware. my guy said there was a bulletin nov 2016 ish time. its a firmware update tho. theyre only allowed to put it on if theres a problem tho. ill get the firmware code when i go in and you can ask about it specifically maybe?

I told them there was a problem with slow speed jerkiness and asked if they could update the engine map and they outright said there was no new engine map

Version 2
Design group 07.08 Governor
Date 03-21-2017
Validity BR 205 with M177 up to production date 12/2016

Complaint:
Engine sound complaint on AMG C 63 vehicles (model 205 with M177 engines) up to production date 12/2016
Cause:
Current production AMG engines undergo constant development in regards to performance optimization. In the recent
updates to engine and transmission in the C63 vehicles the objective was to optimize the vehicle drive off agility in S+
mode from stand still. These software updates unintentionally led to changes in the engine sound.
Remedy:
To correct the engine sound after the recent software update situation and resolve customer complaint, update the
engine ME again as follows:
DVD 07/2016 with add-on 6527
DVD 09/2016 with add-on 6529
Or a newer DVD
Following the engine software update, the transmission control unit will be updated also.

mine was done recently, it makes it so you get pops simply from taking your foot of the gas a bit when driving on the highway instead of just downshifts. i find it quite entertaining.

according to the bulletin, your only complaint has to be the sound.

ok so i had the update done... car made a few more pops when i accelerate then let go of gas. it still sounds like crap when its in park or neutral and i rev it. literally all engine sound no exhaust at all. wtf? secondary cats are even out!

Asked about 5 times now but no one has answered me lol.
What software update does this and how do I know if my car has it? Is it shown in settings?
I pick up my MY 2017 next week.

Just left the dealership with the new software and all I have to say is wow what a difference. The car sounds insane while revving and so much better on deceleration.

I went in and told them that my exhaust sounded too quite and I know there is a software update then showed them the information of the post above where he copied the service info in and I was in and out in 45 mins.
