C63s Edition 1 Stolen - Key Less Owners Warning
Onto the next car now, i have ordered alfa romeo giulia quadrifoglio, after the edition 1 the normal c63s didn't feel as special.
I would say that there have been ALOT of Mercedes being stolen in the area i live in and also on the news, using the same key less method. Both C classes and E Classes. most ppl aren't aware of the double locking method.
With our other car we now have the autowatch ghost installed which is an impressive peace of kit.

What is this "double locking" method you speak of?

When locking vehicle hit lock button 2 times till you here the horn chirp twice and flash a red light on fob twice .
Now the signal from your key fob is deactivated.
Do the same to your spare key fob.
Every time you go somewhere or home, must keep doing this so that they can not amplify your key fob signal to steal your car.

Or am I not getting something here? This means every time you have to put in the button (why not just put in a normal key). And then you have to take it out every time you go somewhere or home, which is ALL the time lol.
If that is the case, I would just do what you said and leave it at that (so it's just like you have no keyless go) and keep the button somewhere safe in your house.

Atter that start car normally by pressing the brakes
After programming your I mode all you need to do is get in and put foot on brake and hit the start button and quickly move your finger to the mode lever and push once forward and the car will start in settings you set in I mode including the performance exhaust in LOUD.
I don't know the policies where you live, but DAS4 (your car) keys are now blank and are programmed at the dealership with the other key and vehicle present. In the event the car is missing all of it's keys the car needs to be checked into service and a special request is sent to get another key. All these items require ID/Registration documentation on file for 10 years. Key ordering is closely monitored and audited. Even in the US with DAS3 keys which are programmed from the factory have the same policy car must be towed in to get another key. MBUSA does not state why this is their policy, but theft deterrence is what I am guessing. I am very interested in what really happened and I don't think it's a coincidence the car has keyless go. They must be using that technology to steal the car. Maybe you could hire a private investigator to look into it. Maybe with all the other thefts other owners may chime in and find something you guys have in common. I am sure it would be worth it to get these guys off the street. Good luck and sorry for your loss
The chap, Richard @soundsalarming_uk did a great job and is based in Wallington if anyone else decides to have it be installed in the south east of hte UK. Some earlier videos of certain people defeating the device by trying to start 3 or 4 times. It looks like that was partly due to installation issues and also since then the product has been tweaked and units already installed up to that point were to be replaced with newer units too. Richard in particular had indepth knowledge of the product and the guy who runs autowatch. He recommended probably skipping the use of bluetooth from a smartphone to unlock the vehicle (ios only at the moment, android in testing) as the blutooth signal can have quite a long range eg 15 metres for example.
Slept like a baby since friday night. The vehicle can still be towed, but until they find and remove the unit, there is simply no starting it. It doesnt emit a signal either and is undetectable using equipment. Lastly, your code is your code, you can change this as often as you like and you have a recovery key too.
Probably i would suggest the following :
a. using double locking on both your key fobs (ie push lock button twice to switch off fob signal). Whether or not you have the autowatch installed, you probably dont want your key fob signal intercepted because they can then turn off the towing prevention measure.I'm sure they can disable all signals from the car anyhow but just in case)
b. take out keyless entry button (one added step can hopefully buy you time, though they could come breaking into your house and getting your key from you at gunpoint )
c. use autowatch ghost and do not use the blutooth smartphone pairing.
If you're worried about people breaking in to your house then dont follow steps a and b and simply rely on the autowatch. By the time they clone your signal and get in the vehicle, they'll be foiled at the last step. hopefully by then you'd have already called the cops and they will then have a smaller window of opportunity (if only a minute or so less when dealing with the most advanced crooks).
It doesnt reduce my insurance premiums as it isnt thatcham approved.
