Um.... Dare I ask?. Ok... I will. Can you narrow down the term "upgrade?" LOL

Ok car's back. Man...I dunno why they didn't make it easy to lift up and remove the hard syrafoam type material in the trunk. Everything's tucked away and under other trim nearby...sheesh.

Mine's Part # A 001 982 81 08. Written on the left of the battery label is "VRLA/AGM". And a quick Google search confirms the same: http://www.ebay.de/itm/ORIGINAL-MERC...-/182073698292. So that answers that.

Ironically, just under it, written in Arabic (and not written anywhere in English on the battery lol) is the following warning: "Do not charge the battery via a battery charger except after disconnecting the battery from the vehicle electrical circuit." Hmmm... I wonder if that only applies to charging directly at the battery. Cuz there's obviously a charging/battery maintenance + and - post under the hood...

On another note, is that long thin cubby area in front of the battery made for a canister like Fix-A-Flat?

Aluminum cage? All I had was that thin styrafoam typa stuff that covers the entire trunk. Then there's actual styrafoam that covers the front edge of the battery to keep it in place/prevent it from wobbling around. No aluminum cage... ??

Weird....you even have some stuff (two neon green/yellow items, one to the left and one in front of the battery), and something else in the cubby in front of the battery that's empty on my car. Mine is a C63S Edition One Coupe, FYI.
Here's exactly what I see, in order:

Styrafoam-like trunk flooring

With that layering removed. You can see the actual styrafoam piece holding the battery in place

Closeup of the battery and styrafoam piece

Syrafoam piece removed, and laying up (at the bottom of the pic)

I wonder if it's a difference between sedans and coupes? auditoamg has a coupe; maybe he'll chime in as to how his battery is secured.

If I recall, it's Styrofoam... 😀

Mine is buried under a subwoofer at the moment, so harder to check....
