What Would You Do?

Was not able to get the C43 I wanted... So, I'm back to looking at the C63. Here is what I found and my initial negotiations...

2017 C63 Sedan w/Panaroma Roof, Black Nappa Leather, P3 Pkg, and 19" AMG Cross-Spoke Forged Wheels. MSRP of $74,595. Sitting on lot for a while... Dealer initial offer was $69,990. I countered $65K. They laughed at me. Then, they called me back and offered $67,500 without me having to really fight.

What would you do? I believe I can get 'em down to $65K. End of the month approaching and a car that's not moving... Thoughts?

Well.. you are pretty close on price.....

If it is the car you really want...
I would go up to $65,500....

If they say no.....be prepared to walk......but if they still have the car in a week.... they will be calling....

At least your dealer is giving a discount on the AMG... my dealer wouldn't....
I ended up walking.... and went elsewhere.....
And when they called me back a few days later, I already had another car.....

Although, to me....
I'm not going to let 1 or 2 thousand, on a 75k car, stop me from getting the car I really want...

Im not sure how big the dealer you are working is in regards to sales but I would assume about 10.50% off to 12% from MSRP to holdback (a level of profit for the dealer behind the invoice number). There is about 6% from MSRP to invoice and at 65k you will be at 14% so its not a bad deal. There is 1500 trunk money in the car right now so really if they give you 65k they are selling it for 66.5k which is all their money at 12%.

This is where the rubber meets the road, how much work and how long are you willing to work the deal with the chance that it might sell? I think 65k is a fair deal right now depending on a few things for that exact car: how long on the lot, dealer allocation, market stats (how many C63 sedans are there in the local area), basically supply and demand for the region. If you have a good time frame and are willing to lose the car to another buyer then I'd hold ground but in reality they are selling the car for nothing to move metal.
