I’ve been lurking on forum for a bit and my experience with recent Mode carbon purchase and install prompted this first post.

First off, huge fan of my C63S coupe as a daily driver. Great car. I enjoy driving this daily more than my previous 991S and current GT4. The midrange torque is addictive and fun on street. Tech is great, ride is great. Car is total home run.

I have been less than thrilled with my customer experience with Mode Carbon during my purchase process. Here are the facts and potential buyers can do with it as they may. Not trying to flame them as I do like the parts now that they are on the car so consider this a buyer beware.

When I purchased these two parts I was promised a 4-6 week delivery time. 4 weeks as being likely, 6 weeks at the latest. After 6 weeks and no parts I contacted them and for the next 4 weeks was promised each week that it was coming soon, that my production status had been upgraded, that I was next in line for production, etc. So, rather than receiving these parts in the quoted 6 weeks it took over 10 weeks for them to ship from Mode. I was promised expedited 2 day delivery, they shipped it 3 day. When I opened the box the front splitter had a 2-3mm gap in the trailing edge where the carbon was not bonded together. The piece was like a tight horseshoe shape. I could take a credit card and slide it along the entire back edge of the piece. I contacted Mode and they said that this is how all of their MB and BMW splitters are produced. I was not thrilled with the quality of this as over time this gap would fill with road crud and water and couldn’t help its longevity. Also the piece flexed more than would if fully bonded together. There were no install instructions or install hardware included. For as expensive as these parts are they should include all necessary hardware and printed instructions. The sales person at Mode said he would track down the necessary hardware and ship to me ASAP. After multiple calls and emails back and forth not only did they never send the hardware but they couldn’t even tell me what I would need. He came off over phone as wanting to be helpful but was awful with follow through. Another minor annoyance was they put 3M tape on the center area of the lip which hangs down and does not attach to the car. The two sides tape on and there are 3 mounting holes. This center area does not need tape and it took an extra 30 minutes to pick this tape off as it would have been visible.

I was less than impressed with their service. So, for install I had to wing it and make extra runs to get the necessary hardware as I figured out what was needed. I also filled in and sealed the seam in the front splitter with black silicone adhesive and then clamped overnight for it to set before installing.

After the B.S. the parts look great on the car and the quality of the carbon weave is nice. I’m hopeful the clear coat holds up to Florida UV. IMO if you want to sell parts at premium prices you need to provide premium service.

pictures of gap
here is the trailing edge of the edition 1 front splitter as it was delivered. you can see the gap and how far into the cavity a business card can be slid. I don't see why they wouldn't use an adhesive to seal this area. Black silicone did the job but created an extra step.

I would not be pleased with that wait.... I like the front lip.

Not a fat of their spoiler, maybe it looks nicer in person.

I was keen on getting their rear diffuser but after this post, I don't think I'll bother. I'm all the way in Oz go knows how long it will take.

Yeah, I like the mode carbon stuff, but there is almost no way I would pay thousands of dollars just to wait 4 weeks (let alone 10 weeks) to get a product, that's just ridiculous.

I'm in Jupiter area. You?

Front lip is a home run as far as looks. It is subtle but adds to front end nicely. Rear bootlid spoiler is definitely meaty. I'm not one for anything too flashy and the look is growing on me. I really like how it squares off the trunk from the rear view and picks up the shape of the bottom bumper valence. In person it works not subtle but also not too over the top.

I also updated my rubber to the Michelin sport 4's. 265 fronts and 295 rears. The 295 fits rear rim much better than the overly stretched 285's. No rubbing or issues with current setup. My tire guy who has done my race tires for years though 305's would have risk of rubbing given clearance on inside. We didn't test fit 305's to be sure but he has good experience with fitments.

Quite a few of us has had our fair share of the same customer experience from Mode Carbon including Bimmerpost side. I recommend due diligence to be done before purchasing.

Sounds good. What color is your C? Tell me more about the 305's in rear. Super sports or sport 4s? Any clearance issues at all??? If you can post picts of side of tire and from rear. Would love to see how those look mounted up. Do you have 265's in front?

If you go to any of the local car things you might have seen my vintage Porsche there. Picts attached.

Shocking and such a shame. It would be great to have top quality products AND service for aftermarket products on a car like ours.

Will be out of town this weekend. Will keep any eye out for your car. If you purchased at north palm dealer I think I test drove your car (gently of course).
