Remus powerizer?

Noticed some kind of piggyback tuning on the Remus website. Any thoughts or experience on this? (seems interesting in order not to lose the factory warranty on the engine).

Do they actually offer a warranty replacement? These days you can't rely on simply removing the time to avoid detection.

1) Piggybacks eventually lose their effectiveness, when the ECU relearns: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...eman-tune.html

2) There are so many parameters monitored by Benz, and many from realtime and past data (ie not only the current state of the vehicle when you take it in to service) that you will still likely be flagged as modified: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...tech-tune.html

I don't have first hand experience with any on this car, but I know it all depends on the piggyback. Well engineered ones (smart programming) will not have this issue. If the ECU is adapting with your piggyback, throw that junk in the trash (Rebellion). Do not cheap out with these units, there are some out there (RaceChip) and some in development (Dinan) that use advanced processors and software so things like this don't happen.

Why would you spread statements like this without any support?

The first link is nothing more than a guy saying "I heard this might happen." With a good piggyback, the car's ECU will never even see the altered data so there will be nothing to "relearn."

The second link is about MB flagging cars that have full ECU flashes.

Given I've run the Rebellion piggyback tune for over a year, and had it dyno'd with the gains Rebellion claimed after that time, I call BS on #1. I only swapped it out to prototype the Dinan piggyback solution.. and have had the same experience; no the ECU doesn't magically become self-aware and know that the signals coming in are modified.

As for #2: You pay to play. Regardless of flash or piggy, if you're modifying your vehicle from stock, expect that if that modification directly affects something that breaks.. well, them's the breaks. Better hope your aftermarket company will stand by you.

not sure where you got that info from , but if that were actually the case companies like Dinan, AFE, rebellion, Active Autowerke on and on would be out of business. a piggyback does not lose its effectiveness.

The source cited in #1 is another members post. In it, he states he "pretty sure" and that he "heard" that this happens. Then several other members jump on to refute this. In fact the post is better suited as evidence that this does not happen than it does.
