Air Intake Options

Haha you must have missed the group buy thread that got deleted. They're trying to sell those... $1200 if there are >10 buyers for the hot air intake.

Maybe I'm a sucker, but I was most impressed by the digital airflow design they utilized, which resulted in them going with a cone-style filter, rather than the traditional flat rectangular filter. So that's the one I was leaning towards.
Arma's intake seems to utilize the same design, and is much more aesthetically appealing IMO than the Weistec intake. Either it's flow restricted compared to other aftermarket competitor products, or they only dynoed it OEM vs OEM + intake without any other supporting mods, since their dyno only shows 5rwhp and 5 ft-lb increase. But even the Weistec kit states "5 to 30HP gains in the top end depending on level of modification".
On a separate note, I was talking to one of the guys at Pure Turbos, and I believe they said they know of some C63 guys who swapped in the GTS OEM intake, as it flows better than stock, and the GTS and C63 motors are essentially identical?

So I reached out to Arma directly, and asked:
"Why are there openings/slits in the airbox on the sides? Wouldn't this allow hot air from the engine to be sucked in as well, decreasing intake efficiency?"
Their reply:
"Thank you for your inquire.
The slits on the sides is built to make the air goes smooth. Air comes in from the tube goes to the airbox, imagine when the box is full of cold air, it may case the turbulence. So that’s the slits on the sides to help the air comes in and out. And in case of heat created, it will comes out from the slits as well. (the heat sinks to the bottom so it will goes out from the slits)
I hope you get the theory now.

Yeah contact them on their IG. I am waiting for them as well since they were supposed to start production in early April but are running in to delays and said would update in a few weeks.

I don't know... looking through the ZAC Motorsports IG, they claim that their intake is a CAI, but even their videos show increased intake temperatures. BMS's intake will be the same Hot-air-intake style. I think the best options are the CAI styles like Weistec / DIME (I'm sure of all their products, the intake is probably okay to use haha)...

Our intakes will be out soon, just want to make sure all is perfect before release

I’m sure you can fabricate some front mounted intake system... we do have room. Only thing to be concerned about is the bend and flow of air would create some sort of turbulence but nothing that would greatly effect performance.
Honestly these carbon airboxes boxes are just retaining heat... so yes all the choices you have up are hot air intakes lol.
But it like I said best to do a custom front mounted intake that could be made for less than $900 with any decent welder..

Does anybody know someone with one of these intakes? I'm very interested in picking one up. I messaged ZAC composites 4 days ago, but no response.

Got a response from ZAC. $1200 shipped, 3-4 week lead time at the moment in case anyone else is interested.

This is our beta system from when we went to Shift Sector this year. It will look the same and has heat shields as well etc.
These are not like the BMW's you have posted. Whole front end would have to be disassembled for something like that. Plus, we tested front mount intakes on our F90 M5. Lost power because of the extra tubing, heat, and turbulence/vacuum created from the long tubes.
Not ideal in a performance aspect, but if you like aesthetics I guess that's a cool thing to do?
