Help Diagnosing Noise
Hi guys,
So, my c63s has 5k miles on it. This noise began recently. Brought to dealer, checked engine, checked purge valve hoses, stethoscope on engine, nothing. Was able to replicate with foreman. After checks they sent me on my way and said they couldn’t replicate again. Leaving dealer it was apparent it was still there.
Take again, have them change oil, check again. Said it was normal engine noise for c63s and they compared to another. Again, I don’t think it’s normal.
Does not make the noise in sport, neutral or park. Doesn’t matter if fan is on or ac is on. Doesn’t matter if in first gear in comfort either. Seems to happen only when engine is warmer. Any ideas? Could it be dash rattle from engine vibrations? Speaker vibration? Only apparent at idle.
To add, not audible outside the car.

I listened to your audio and it sounds like the dash area for me. Under load of your car in drive you are getting a little more vibration and something is loose. Maybe with the help of a friend, listen outside the car and see if you can isolate to just the cabin, and specifically the dash (Check engine bay, under the car, etc). Definitely doesn't sound right and I am sure is driving you nuts.

Brought it back into dealer, shop foreman heard it a second time. We both thought heat shield, he added felt behind bolts. Didn’t work. Moving onto third visit.

Ok. So after four dealership visits, it appears the issue has been fixed. I hope this thread will help someone down the line that’s experiencing the same thing. It turned out to be a brake booster hose that was rubbing against firewall at certain rpms. They insulated and noise has seemed to go away.
