Key not detected....

Started car tonight.
Just after engine started I got the error.
No beeping or bells like the key had left the car -wife gets completely annoyed when I leave the car running while she's in it and I have the key).
Message went away for a second and then came back....
Multiple restarts and no return....

Earlier in the day the car stalled, AND now when switching between exhaust modes, the RPMs drop in half when in comfort mode (valves closed).

Any idea?

A little surprised this never got a single reply. Instead of starting a new thread tho I'll piggy back off of this.

I was meeting a friend earlier at a shopping center, car was on the entire time and the key didn't move from its resting place in the cupholder area. I opened and closed the door a few times, but when I climbed back in to take off, the Key Not Detected light popped on and started dinging at me. I moved the key around a bit, nothing. It let me drive off just fine and even change drive modes, but the message and dinging persisted. Luckily I had to make another stop a few miles down the road, turned off the car and came back a min later and after a slight hesitation, it started up keyless for me.

Anyone have any experience w/this? just another bug? anything to make it stop or is a shut off/restart the only way around it?

What year is the car? The 2019+ have a motion sensor in the fob, which turns the fob off after 2 minutes if no motion has been detected. It's supposed to wake up again, though, as soon as there is motion. Most of the time these kinds of issues are caused by a dying battery in the fob. Put in a fresh battery and see if the problem goes away.

2017. Just put in a new battery a week ago. FOB itself is pretty terrible and has 0 range. I constantly stand there like an idiot either leaving or returning to the vehicle to get it to lock/unlock. Can't wait to get car registered so I can order a replacement through MB.
