Chrome Trunk Strip

Interestingly, just noticed that my 2018 C63S Coupe had the $200 Chrome Trunk Strip option, which I don't like.

Is it a "taped" on piece and is it easily removed?

As it is a listed option, I assume most of the coupes don't come with it, correct?

It's just 3M double-sided taped on.

Hey man, I'm considering removing mine as well, but I'd also like to see if anyone has removed theirs. Would anyone suggest spraying soaking it in some goo gone and heating it up with a heat gun?

I had mine wrapped to match the piano black on the rest of the car. During a high speed run, the vinyl must have blown off. Considering removal as well, but I’m concerned there is an indent underneath the chrome strip so it would look goofy if removed. If you want to peel it, use a heat gun on low heat and peel/heat slowly. Don’t use goo gone and don’t heat it til it’s paint scorching hot. Less is more.

Just to clarify, I have a 2018 Coupe, so the chrome strip is very different from the sedan. The sedans is integrated into the trunk and goes all the way across from edge to edge and it has clips i believe

The coupe usually has no chrome strip. My car had it because there was an ordering mistake. It is a $200 option. On the coupe it is just double sided tape. It also doesn't run edge to edge. It looks stupid.

So i had it removed today, and, of course, when the tech removed it the strip snapped and put a little paint chip on the face of trunk.

But at least the chrome is gone. I will touch it up tomorrow.

Pretty sure the chrome strip on the sedan is just 2-side tape too. It was removed twice for my PPF wrap job.

I can tell you for SURE you can't just remove the chrome strip on the sedan. I had mine removed and had it painted body color. In the picture you can see that the strip is attached with clips. Just removing it isn't an option.
