Who's Upgraded their Turbos
Well it's that time...
Just starting to research what turbos are available on the market, and the Pros and Cons of upgrading.
Those who have swapped out the factory turbos feel free to tell us about what turbos, which tune and supporting mods you chose to go with and what you think of the change from factory turbos to upgraded turbos.
Feel free to add pictures of the swap, dyno graphs and time slips.

What's the meet? Facebook link doesn't work.
Coffee and Cars is on Sunday at Coopers Plains, was thinking of checking it out if it ever stops raining.

I am running the Dime Racing Stg. III turbos and they perform flawlessly. I did 10.48 in the 1/4 Mile with full interior and the engine has a very linear and factory like powerband, yet it still has a brutal kick when you stomp it. The best part is the car drives and delivers power exactly like factory when in comfort mode which is very impressive for a 700 WHP car.

I'm interested in the 60' times, I can't seem to get under 2.0...
Good to hear that drivability is as factory was.
How are the Dime turbos different from the factory units???
What other mods are you running in support of the turbos to get the 700 hp atw?
How is your transmission holding up?

I've read about Pure Turbos but haven't read any first-hand feedback either. I've personally been considering going OEM (E63 BW EFR turbos, twin scroll manifold, lower heat shield, coolant hoses) and ECU tune. Should make 700+ hp easy with immediate low end torque.
Just how much torque will they hold before staring to fail?
I've also hear that a TCU tune, reprogramming the solenoid control, and increasing pump pressure to raise torque capacity will work.

My Stage 2 dyno'd at 882nm at the engine and transmission feels very strong.
Not many people willing to give up much information on their turbo upgrades

I'm not particularly stuck on sticking with OEM turbos, but the E63 to my understanding uses Borg Warner EFR turbos, which are some of the lowest inertia/fastest spooling turbos out there. I don't know what specific turbo from the EFR line it runs, but with a twin scroll manifold, you can probably get away with going with the next size up (eg from a 7163 to a 8374), provided it fits, and make a LOT more power. And save a ton of money by buying the turbo straight from resellers, and not Mercedes.
