Rebellion Piggyback Harness: Customer Service?

Anyone else have problems with the Rebellion harness? I've contacted their customer service via e-mail several times and have not received a response. Are they sponsors on this site? In any case, I read somewhere that they have changed modules due to issues with the previous version. Can someone confirm this and did you receive a replacement from Rebellion. TIA.

Yes, I had my Rebellion piggyback replaced about a year ago after the original started failing due to heat in the engine bay.

The new redesigned piggyback was significantly better constructed and gave me no problems until I switched to the prototype Dinan tune earlier this year, which was just released to the public this month.

They were a bit unresponsive initially but did respond to me eventually, and they made good their promise on remedying the issues I had. That was about a year ago.

I've been following your experience with Dinan. Performance wise, can you tell any difference between the two tunes you've had? Also, have you heard anything about the Vivid Racing tune kit.....it has a 5th sensor (cam sensor) that the Dinan doesn't have? Thanks for your input!

I can't really comment too much without appearing like I'm bashing one vendor or another. But suffice to say I'm happy with the Dinan tune and wouldn't do any other piggyback tune given it's performance and warranty.

I can't speak to the Vivid piggybacks' tunes, but the external hardware (piggyback + harness) looks exactly like the same coming from Rebellion, both their current one at $1500 and the previous one at $1300. I'd avoid the $1300 one if you were going with Vivid.

I personally believe both of those are rebranded units from someone like Racechip or TMC, who do a lot of private label stuff for many of the "tuning companies" out there. Vivid racing is a speed shop and a "distributor" of many product lines, Dinan included. im sure they get the "VR tuners" aka Vivid Racing boxes from an outsourced solution. That is totally OK, but just understand its not from them directly, they just have their name on it

You would be correct in that assumption, at least from a hardware standpoint. Now whether each individual disti also customizes the tune provided, that's up in the air. AFAIK Rebellion did play around with the tune. Don't know about Vivid.

Dinan's is all in-house. I've been rocking a 3D printed housing for their custom board for the last six months.

OP: Did you get this resolved? I just heard back from them and they want me to send my harness to them for repair. I'm not sure I agree with a repair since it will also cost me about $180 to mail the thing to the UK. I might just "eat" my loss on this one and go with Dinan. Lesson learned is always go with local or domestic if maintenance or warrantee work might be required. That's my warning to others looking at this box.

Rebellion refunded mine and paid for the shipping.

Dont cut your losses, if it's faulty request a full refund.
