Micheline tires in general are expensive, but high quality.

I decided to go with continental tires.

What I see right now S63 coup and E63s with continental tires so they are very high quality.

Just picked up a set of Michelin PS4S the other day. Initial impression is fantastic. Ride is quieter, grip is unparalleled and traction is predictable. Whereas I could light up the tires without effort before, now it launches like an animal and traction control barely flickers. Went with 255/35/19 front 285/35/19 rear.

Nice, but for me I would like to stick with OEM sizes.

Folks, there're over a dozen tire categories, and tires like the Michelin A/S3s and Conti DWS06s belong to 'ultra high-performance all season', which is the highest performing all-season category, and only 2 notches below 'max summer', which is where MPSSs and MP4Ss belong. Only those who are pushing their cars to their absolute limit need such tires. And in order to perform that way, they need to be hot. That means, that when temps are mild, like right now and spring, the A/S3s would actually perform better. And when both are hot, the A/S3s still have a ton of grip. As I said before, only when pushing the car way hard it'd become evident. My guess is over 90% of people driving C63s would actually benefit from such tire, but maybe not on this forum. Those summer tires have a lot of negatives, plus you can only benefit from them in summer (hence their name). They're noisier, last a lot less, actually lousy in cool weather, and downright dangerous below 50s, and less efficient in rain. They're only excel in dry grip when hot. And since the C63 is not really a sports car (it's a GT car), they make little sense IMO. If I end up buying it, and it came with summer tires, I'd replace them with the DWS06s asap. Hope this helps.

As a side comment, in my case, even summer tires make no sense in my Cayman GTS. Took it for a last drive tihs year a few weekends ago, and since the twisties are in the mountains here, it's never hot. So can never drive it like it was meant to be due to lack of heat. That day I was sliding all over the place a little over 0.8G, where max summer tires are supposed to corner above 1.0G. I bet I could have cornered harder on A/S3s or DWS06s. If I keep it, will probably switch, since the road noise of summer tires is driving me crazy, and don't really see any benefit of having them, since I don't track my car. A track would be the only place where I'd need better tires than a DWS06. So there you have it. Having summer tires doesn't even mean you can drive the car faster in many cases.

To each their own . I’m very please with the outcome and feel that aside from preference to summer vs all season, this size tire should be stock. The only thing i could rely on with the OEM tires is that they would lose traction in 1st-3rd gear. While using 500hp to blow the tires off is tons of fun, i’d rather put that power to the ground. Noise is honestly minimal like i said and grip is unparalleled. i haven’t had any issues with temperature (pittsburgh) affecting grip although it is unseasonably warm still (~50-60 degrees). car will be garaged when temps drop to freezing as i have another vehicle for winter use. Appearance wise, these tires fill up the gaps in the wheel well much better and look beefy. The sidewall doesn’t spill over the wheel like it would with a 295 or 305 (depending on the tire). IMO it looks perfect. 285 is the max width for the sedan wheels and the torque our cars put out warrants more tire on the ground.

I'm getting Michelin P4S in the same sizes as you.

Front: 255/35-19
Rear: 285/35-19

Widest tires possible for the factory wheels.

Can't wait!

My car came with Dunlop. They're OK, but not great. At the AMG Driving Academy they use Continentals on all the cars (big sponsor), and I thought they were great. Cant speak to road noise as we had helmets on.
