Thumbs down C63s Coupe must have options

Am ordering a 2018 and wonder if any here have comments on non-aesthetic options. At this point I want 19/20 wheels/tires; multimedia; performance exhaust; and heads-up display.

The only options my coupe has are performance exhaust, Performance Package 2 (Multimedia), and 19/20 cross spoke forged wheels. All of the other options are kind of gimmicky to me and add a lot of additional cost without a incremental performance improvement for street/daily use.

Heads up display is a absolute deal breaker if it was not included.

Must haves:
Distronic - Includes lane assist and autopilot - this means you can let your car do the driving in traffic or long road trips. You do have to keep your hand on the wheel.
Parking assist - 360 view camera with the push of a button, sensors and alerts to keep your front lip and rims safe from curbs when parking. It also means parallel parking automation.
Perf Exhaust
19/20s front/rear
Advanced Lighting
Multimedia

Nice to haves:
HUD
Carbon Fiber trim interior
Carbon fiber exterior
night package
Magno color

I started a build with the dealership until i saw one with parking assist, so glad I decided to get that. It definitely helps with seeing parking spots that have high cement slabs looking to tear into your front lip or rims. I wouldn't really use the parking automation though.

I went with night package, obsidian black, chrome 19/20s, park assist, distronic, HUD, multimedia, and advanced lighting. I love the tech that comes with these cars! So advanced!

I have the sedan but IMO:
  1. Black forged rims
  2. performance exhaust
  3. Night package (if not a black car)
  4. Package 3 for bigger screen + LED headlights
  5. 3D Camera

I always try and find a balance between my own wants and needs, and what the future buyer might require. What do I actually need on the S model?

perf exhaust
standard seats
night package
forged 19/20” wheels
apple car play
hud
ventilated seats

My maybes are,
park assist
drivers assist

Luxury items,
ceramic brakes

Dont need,
Multimedia

My wife's 08' Infinity has lane assist and autopilot and they are a pain. Maybe I will try a test ride in a MBZ with them to see.

A 360 view now resonates with me, after repairs on my low SLK55 a one wify trip for donuts in my CLK55 where she pulled too far forward, over a parking block and backed up (car came home with a scarf holding the front bumper on).

Conversely, I am probably going back to the std wheels and tires because the 285/30 road contact patch size will be the same (only the 19" / 20" rim size changes). As I see it, the difference should only be aesthetic, not better performance.

In my experience, the drive pilot in the C63 barely qualifies as such. Even in very mild freeway curves, it seems to hit the lane markers out the outside of a turn almost every time before jerking its way back to center.

Yeah this is my fist time using lane assist and autopilot, I'm not sure its worth writing home about. I think they could stand to tweak the lane assist/auto pilot to smooth out adjustments. The cruise control, slowing down, braking, and speeding up seem to be pretty decent from what I can tell using it a few times.

Options That I have on MY18 c63s coupe

parking assistant: I got this for the 360 camera. This is a must have as it is very useful. I use this every time I drive

Distronic Plus with steering assist & adaptive cruise control: this package is a must if you plan on using you c63s as a daily. It is a life saver when you’re in heavy traffic under 20 mph & on straight. In traffic I just take my hand off the steering wheel, sit back and relax.

Lighting package: This is a must have, it’s much better than the standard head light especially in low lit areas. Did I mention it looks so much better?

19/20 black wheels: not sure if this is a must have. Looks really good but a pain to get brake dust off

Night package: if you hate chrome then this is a must have. It’s also a must have if you choose polar or diamond white

multimedia package 3: n absolute must for the better looking screen

AMG performance seat: I regret not getting the performance seat. I’m 5’10 & 150lbs & after 4 plus hours in the standard sport seats. All I can say is that for me the amg performance seat is just as comfortable & feels/look a lot more special. this is a must on the c63s

heated & ventilated seat: waste of money. With ventilation on you can feel anything plus the fan is noisy. Amg performance seat all the way!

amg performance exhaust: if you don’t get this option don’t get the c63s at all. It’s a requirement 😈

carbon fiber trim: this or the matte wood option is a must. Don’t get the piano black trim as it scratches easily & is a dust magnet. Plus you don’t get the IWC clock with the piano black trim.

Color: I got diamond white, no regrets. Color is up to the individual but I think the magic grey makes this car look much more special versus the whiteHUD: Takes some getting use to. This is a must for me &a you can turn it off

Thank you for the comments.
I'm curious as to how the Multimedia package screen is "better looking" than the standard one. Is the resolution different or is it simply how you view the slightly larger screen size as being? As for your opinion on the "stock" versus "performance" seat, how were you able to test each or conclude such?

thanks in advance,

thanks in advance,
I drove a base c class as a loaner & the smaller screen looks very cheap/tacky with really big bezel. Here's a pic of the smaller screen in the link. As far as resolution, I can't see the difference.
For the performance seat, I sat in one at the dealer for about hour. After break in I took the c63s on a small road trip & my a** start to hurt after an hour of driving. There's a lot of mixed reviews by owners on the performance seat comfort vs the standard sport seat. Some people find it very comfortable and supportive and others as* goes numb after 2 hour. All I can say is that it depends on your body type. I'm 150 lbs and very slim and the performance seat offer more support plus a bit more comfort (even though there's less cushion) vs the other one.

I agree with no multimedia. I believe the screen image is slightly smaller, but it is of no issue. The Smartphone integration really outperforms the multimedia package in my usage, I would never go back to the slow MB system.

Yeah I was on the fence about the gloss black. I had to choose between carbon fiber center dash or parking assist/360 camera with gloss black in the cars available. I ended up going with the gloss black dash and no clock. I had the fiberglass dash and clock on my C43, I don't miss either of those at all. I actually like the gloss black, it looks super sharp and matches the rest of my black C. I didn't think I would like it at first and now that I have it, I like it more than the carbon fiber or fiberglass.

You really can't go wrong with either of the center dash options in my opinion, guess just whatever your preferences are. They did a good job on these cars.

I wanted it on my build but my salesman mentioned that if I wear Polarized sunglasses (I do all the time), the HUD won't be visible. I checked it out on a car they had at the dealer and sure enough, glasses go on and the HUD disappears so I deleted it from my build. YMMV.
