Not sure how anyones understanding could be that the S come with Carbon Ceramic Brakes. Not one piece of literature that I have ever seen states that. Probably because it is not the case. Carbon brakes are an option and are not standard on the S. The only thing I can think of is that they may have been standard on the Edition 1. Not trying to take the thread off track but rather trying to cut down on mis information floating around.
The easiest way to tell the difference is by the caliper color. The C63 brakes have silver/gray calipers, the standard C63S steel brakes have red calipers, and the C63S carbon/ceramic brakes have gold calipers.

The C63S comes standard with steel brakes, and as you stated the carbon/ceramic brakes are optional. The carbon/ceramics are not optional on the C63; all of them have steel brakes.

How's the replacement cost on the steelies on the C63 S? I've read some fairly conflicting reports, ranging from $1200 for the fronts to $4-5k for the whole car.

Just did a quick search for online part prices here, and the list price for rotors is as follows (sorted by caliper color):
- Silver = $190 per rotor
- Red = $1,050 per rotor
- Gold (ceramic) = $3,600 per rotor

It depends on if you need rotors/pads or just pads. I just had both the front and rear pads replaced a few weeks ago (31K miles), and I want to say the cost was in the $800 range for both together (don't have the tickets in front of me, but I'll double-check when I get home). Unless you are abusing or otherwise damaging your brakes, I don't see why you'd need rotors replaced so early.

Yeah, I'm looking at a 2016 C63S, so while I'd agree that I wouldn't need to replace brakes early, this car has 27k miles on it and is a couple years old so I don't think it'd be unreasonable to assume within a year it'll need at least pads. Hopefully I'm wrong. I haven't seen the car in person yet so I won't know until I have it inspected.

My dealer just let me know that they just took in a 2017 C63S on trade. Details in the image, priced at 72,800 CPO. Maybe a tad high, unsure of mileage right now, so hard to say without that.
Any thoughts on this car (other than it would be beautiful)

As a comparison. 2018 C63s, grey, black recaros, multi, hud, parktronic, 19”/20” wheels....a $90k car offered at $80k. Ready for this? Less than 2k miles.
Palm Beach Florida. Mercedes dealership. Not sure it’s still there or not.
Auto trader can be very helpful in these excersises.

Off topic, but if MB of Austin is your dealer, that's the one close to me too.

It looks pretty comparable to the 2017 I listed above, almost the same options. I actually don't want the Recaro seats (call me crazy, it's a daily driver). So the one that's local isn't terribly priced in comparison by the looks of it.

I'm a huge fan of black interiors (even though they're wildly common). I do love a good brown, though. We'll have to see what it looks like - going to look today. My wife's F Pace seats are brown.

I have the saddle brown interior, nothing but complements. I have noticed that certain clothes transfer color to the leather but it comes right up with some Lexol Leather Cleaner.

thanks for the input! I’m here right now and it’s certainly not my first choice, but beautiful nonetheless.

Well I took home a 2017 CPO AMG C63S last night. I love it. Definitely a tougher ride even in comfort than my S4 but can’t wait for summer to get some heat on the tires!
