It's a bit of a premium to just upgrade to the S. That's a good deal on a c63 in your situation. Take a look at the following below, which compares the acceleration side-by-side of an S and non-S c63 w205. Very "very" marginal difference in performance. You do get more standard features in the S. Not sold on the dynamic mounts, just another thing to go wrong. That being said, i can't fault anyone for choosing an S or non-S.

I'm not trying to take sides here, but this info is incorrect. The S model has 15.4" compound brakes on the front and 14.2" rears. The non-S has 14.2" all around.

Let me set the record straight.

All of this comes from MB's official DOG (dealer ordering guides):

C63S vs. C63:

- Front bumper A-Wing is painted black on the C63S (painted body color on the C63)
- Rear diffuser trim painted matte silver on the C63S (painted gloss black on C63)
- 19'' wheels are standard on C63S with optional staggered 19''/20'' (18'' wheels are standard on C63, with no option to upgrade to staggered 19''/20'')
- 503 HP/516 ft-lb torque standard with C63S (469 HP/479 ft-lb torque standard with C63)
- AMG electronic limited-slip differential standard on C63S (AMG mechanical limited-slip differential on C63)
- Dynamic engine mounts on C63S (not available with standard C63)
- Nappa leather interior with the C63S (C63 comes with MB-Tex/Dinamica interior)
- Natural grain black ash wood trim with IWC clock comes with the C63S (High-gloss black trim without IWC clock is standard on C63)
- AMG Performance Steering Wheel w/DINAMICA inserts and 12 o'clock marking standard on C63S (AMG Performance Steering Wheel in perforated Nappa leather without 12 o'clock marking on C63)
- 6-piston red brake calipers with black lettering, larger diameter 15'4'' floating composite rotors (grey brake calipers with white lettering, smaller 14.2'' standard rotors on C63)
- Optional Carbon Ceramic front brakes only available as an option with the C63S (not offered with C63)
- C63S gets standard silver/red seat belts and door panel inserts (C63 gets black seatbelts and door panel inserts with option to upgrade)
- AMG instrument cluster on C63S gets red bezel around gauges (C63 has no red bezel)
- An additional Race Mode is standard on C63S along with Race Start (not available on C63)

All that for an extra $7600 for the sedan or $8000 for the coupe. If you were to take a C63 and add all the options that comes standard with the C63S (which technically isn't even possible since many of those options aren't even available for spec on a C63), it would cost much more than the 7-8k price difference between a non-S and S.

Like I and many on here have already said... just get the S.

And if anyone is interested in the specifics of the brakes, check this out:

Standard equipment for the Mercedes-AMG C 63:

The AMG high-performance brake system:
The AMG high-performance brake system with large, all-round internally ventilated and perforated brake discs provides excellent deceleration figures and fade resistance.

The AMG high-performance brake system has the following components:
- on the front axle: integral brake discs measuring 360 x 36 mm, internally ventilated and perforated with 6-piston fixed calliper
- on the rear axle: brake discs measuring 360 x 26 mm, internally ventilated and perforated with 1-piston floating calliper
- grey-painted brake callipers with white AMG lettering

Standard equipment for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S:

AMG high-performance composite brake system:
Greater fade resistance, lower weight

Large, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all round provide for excellent deceleration. The composite technology at the front increases fade resistance and reduces weight. The reduction of weight lowers the unsprung masses on the wheel, thereby improving the response of the spring/damper elements and overall stability.

Features of the AMG high-performance composite brake system:
- Front axle: composite brake disc measuring 390 x 36 mm, internally ventilated and perforated with 6-piston fixed calliper
- Rear axle: brake discs measuring 360 x 26 mm, internally ventilated and perforated with 1-piston floating calliper
- Red-painted brake callipers with black AMG lettering

This is incorrect information of course.

No brainer, right? Only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is that it's not an 'S' model. Someone tell me I must be nuts for not running down to the dealership to sign paperwork tonite...

If this car is optioned the way you want then go for it. If not...then keep looking.

MSRP of $75K means that it's missing a few features for sure since a fully optioned one (not counting carbon fiber bits and accessories) tops just over $80k. So this car is missing one or more of the following: HUD, drivers assist, park assist, ILS, perf exhaust.

I love my HUD and Distronic and would not buy one without those features. Some features may be really important to you while others may not be. It doesn't really matter what others on here prefer especially considering how fanboyish this subforum can get.

The discount being offering to you IS good. It's unlikely you'll find a deal that is significantly better. But that will only really matter if the car has the feature set that you want. Don't make the mistake of settling for a good deal with a car in this class. People buy these types of cars for the driving experience. It's OK to leave a few bucks on the table in order to get the ride that's perfect for your taste.

Interesting. I looked at an S sedan and a standard coupe again today side by side. The S definitely has the floating rotors. But the front and rear rotors on the standard car appeared different sizes to me. I’m gonna measure mine when I’m swapping wheels out of curiosity.

I may be wrong ..... but the S also has dynamic engine and transmission mounts and the Speedshift 7 speed transmission in lieu of the torque converter automatic. Option prices are different between the S and non S as well. The Napa leather is a fortune on the non S but only a $500 bump on the S. S steering wheel is a $500 upgrade on the non-S, a few others as well.

Both the S and Non S have the same trans which is the 7 speed auto with a multi plate wet clutch in place of the torque converter.

I had to chime in being a former C63s owner (now in a 2017 R8 V10 plus)...

Getting a non-S doesnt make sense when the S models are so cheap in the used market nowadays. Getting one with a few miles makes much more sense than a new non-s for the same money. Much better driving in the "s", Anyways enjoy whatever car you buy. Dont be that guy thinking "should have bought the 's'" when you see a s model drive by you or parked in a lot.
