First Track Day experience
My first MB track day in Spa-Francorshamp, 7 km long, many tight turns, significant elevation differences.
I had 4x25mins slots, each slot was six to seven rounds= 42-49km
Around 40 cars in each time-slot. All types of cars, road and special track cars, Porche 911s(GT3, GT3 RS), M2s,M4s,M5s, Alfa Romeo quatrofoglios, Mustangs, Ariel atoms, VW Golf GTIs, Renault RS etc.
First round behind the safety-car.
First slot rather careful driving, however tyres and brakes (and wheels) rather hot.
30 minutes pause and then second slot fast driving, MB very fast in straight lines, but slower in tight turns - cannot beat very light Porches.
Tyres very hot, wheels very hot and brakes very, very hot.
1 hour pause and then 3rd slot - brakes and wheels still warm at the beginning. Tyres start to smelt in surface, brakes started to become slightly soft.
30 mins pause and 4th slot - wheels, tyres and brakes still very hot at the beginning. Have to stop after 20 minutes because brakes started to fail.
Fuel consumption was around 30 liters/100km, max speed 245 km/h.
Temperature 17 degrees Celsius, surface dry.
Fun day, but now need for new tyres.
