Left w204 to join you guys
Hey everyone,
i said goodbye to my baby tonight and got a new c63s sedan,
got almost 16 percent off sticker so I was happy with the payments.
bitter sweet to to be honest. The w204 never had one problem but normal oil change and brakes and tires. But I must say the sound and grip and steering feel is a whole new level. I pushed it alittle on the way home, but how can you not. I’ll baby it till I hit 1000 now. What mileage did people add tunes?
Also so I the car had the illuminated star in the doors only. Does anyone know how to get rid of that?

Congrats brotha! I really like the black multi spoke wheels on these cars.
Contrary to popular belief, once you get the car warmed up to normal operating temp, drive it like you stole it to break it in properly.

whats the reasoning behind breaking it in that way?
Just curious, I hear everyone telling me to keep it under 4500 rpms?

When a motor is breaking in or wearing the the ringlands in with the cylinder wall to form a seal, it happens very quickly within the first 20 mile drive. You want the rpm to vary as much as possible while warming the engine up and once it’s up to full operating temp increase the throttle to 50% a few pulls, then 75% a few pulls and then 100% wot for several pulls. Doing this slowly adds pressure behind the rings, which create a proper seal to the cylinder wall. Sure it will happen even if you kept the rpm under 4500 but it won’t have as good of a seal as doing it the correct way which will result in slight power loss from cylinder pressure escaping past the rings.

100%. They do that because they don’t really care if your car is slightly down on power (maybe ~5%) from not completely sealing the rings to the cylinder walls and I’m sure it has to be a liability for them to tell every Mercedes owner (most that don’t know how to drive lol) to go floor their new car performance everywhere. Not saying you couldn’t do what they recommend, but you wouldn’t get optimum power out of your motor.

There is still a lot of controversy on how to properly break in new motors. Please don't take 1 persons word for it. It is certainly possible though unlikely for Mercedes to deny warranty request if they see break in procedure was not followed.

I feel like I don’t mind cruising around for the first 1000 miles but maybe get on it once and awhile

I've run in a couple of AMGs recently. if you do want to follow the recommwnded procedure then here's how I did it. I don't rag it and don't do hard gear shifts. When the engine is cold it is left in comfort mode . once warmed up and after ive got through a couple hundred miles, I drive in sport and sport plus I do however leave it in auto shifting mode and then drive in any mode i like. the on-board computer on these AMGs is brilliant at shifting early during the 1k period and then when you get closer to 1 k miles then it automatically revs higher and higher on shifts and even up to 4k.
throughout I try and vary the revs as much as possible and briefly take the revs up once in a while to 3.5k early on and then 4k after a few hundred miles .
it would be very interesting to stick it on a dyno and check how little power it's got as a result of this lazy break in

Ya I already have hit about 100 miles so I’m guessing it will take about a month.
Im curious on how everyone did if they leased the car.
78k sticker
2100 down
1080 a month with tax a month...
got them to give me 16 percent off sticker

They must have been very motivated to move it off the lot for the 2019s. What options does yours come with?
