I know, I should leave my car unmolested but I was really looking forward to the 2019 I'd ordered so I want the new grille but also want my special edition colors and the only way I can have both is to molest the car. But I won't, however because it's foolish and all I'll end up doing is devaluating it by updating the grille so thanks for the feedback and for getting my head out of the clouds and down to earth!

yeah, your story is a curse and a blessing, I suppose. On one hand you didn’t get the car you wanted. Why they just chose for you rather than giving you the choice on another color just baffles me. I’d be absolutely infuriated. On the other hand, you got a version of the 2018 that you’ll likely never see another one on the street. But, that comes with some limitations if you want to keep it special — and that kinda sucks too. Make those unseen changes (like tuning) that will bring out the car’s full character and help make it your own. Otherwise, just be sure whatever changes you make you can return it to original. All the best.

You pretty much summed it up better than I could. You totally get me.
As for unseen changes like tuning, with the kind of driving I do I can't even use the power already on tap so adding to it won't really make much of a difference.

The downfall to this upgrade is the new style lower grilles vastly increase the chance of debris impacts to the coolers .My suggestion is if you are going this route you order the add on screens now aval for the coolers .These screens are used on the E63S to help deflect debris and are very cheap to purchase

Hi Guys,

Getting the grill and lower bumper parts going on as we speak. Will send photos once the installation is complete.

I did want to advise anyone with the existing glass star - This will not work with the new grill. You will need to get the new star.

Still looking to update the rear diffuser and tips!!!

Looks good man! Do you know if we can just get the grille without changing any of the bumper inserts? So the only two things I would have to order are the grille and the star? Thanks

Yes you can, but I recommend doing all of it... it looks way better.

Does my dealer just not know what he is talking about? I got the following two part numbers for the grill and star from this thread A2058881500 and A0008880000 but he said under that part he is just seeing the mesh for the grille and not the actual grill itself!?

Looks good man, I like it with the stock bottom trim and facelift grille. Might go this same route on mine.

Here she is after MB put her back together.

I used a plastic riveter to secure the parts that were originally secured with aluminum rivets. It wasn’t as tight and I would suggest getting the correct parts to do this.

What caused my issue? The tech said something I did had caused the bumper to torque slightly. That’s why he stripped it all the way down and reworked the whole job. You may do just fine and it maybe me that was the problem.

Well, the car looks superb despite the hassle. One last q- I’m presuming it’s the lower grills that need pot riviting not the big middle grill?

My memory is a little vague on when I started seeing the rivets but I think you’re right. I think the center grill is the easiest so I left that part until last and just started with the lowers and left the center as my motivation at the end.

The parts are a waterfall inside of the bumper, have to remove a lot of things in succession to get to the one you want type of deal.

Well, tackled this today and went well using the advise from BG09 and reading the various threads. As previously stated removing the bumper was 30 mins and a lift ramp preferable. We removed the undertrays and this made life easier to access the bolts.

Then the hard graft started. Stripping it out took 2-3 hours of carefully removing parts and lots of fiddly clips. Same for re fitting it all up. Pot rivets. Lots of time drilling out and re fitting. We onky removed one grill at a time and re fitted new part to avoid any potential flex, as warned by BG.

Managed to squeeze in fitting edition 1/ 2019 side skirts also, and these really make the car stand out. Possibly like these more than the grill.....

couple more pics,

Also fitted the edition 1 / 2019 rear spoiler

will post some better pics soon. 2019 rear diffuser and tailpipes on order. Tried fitting rear flicks and failed massively so more research needed in these.

Outstanding job! And it looks killer. I just love the last gen headlights and the new grill pairing. I don’t think the facelifted head lights looks as nice. Sorry to the guys with the 19s.

Great work and your panel gaps looks perfect.

Well done.

This new grille really brings the car back to life.

why go with a ‘19 diffuser when you could get a CF aftermarket one that would be more aggressive? What
