'17 C63S Coupe: New brake pads needed at 14K miles?!?!
My 2017 C63S Coupe needs new brake pads at 14,300 miles. The rears are almost completely gone, and the fronts have less than ~25% remaining pad. I do not drive the car very hard and have never tracked it, so I can't understand how it needs new brakes already. Has anyone else heard of or experienced such premature brake wear? Wheel, tires and everything else on the car is stock, no mods whatsoever.

I remember reading on this forum that someone was able to successfully have the dealer change their brake pads under the 2 year/40,000 km wear and tear warranty. Personally I wouldnt count on that as it would depend on the dealer and Im pretty sure most of them wont be willing to cover brakes.

And let me tell you, you don't need to be an aggressive driver to use up your brakes.
So many people are chronic breakers and don't even know it. Even when they don't have to brake! Makes me a little angry cause I'm behind them lol.

The wear on the rear pads is caused by the traction/stability control systems, not Distronic. The rear brakes are applied to reduce and/or eliminate wheelspin. If you have a heavy right foot, your rear pads will be gone before you know it.

Op, I noticed my rear pads are low when I was lowering the car yesterday and I only have 15k milles on the clock.

Pad issues
My rear pads needed to be replaced at 8200 miles. Mercedes told me the driver assistance programs are hard on the brakes. Personally I think this is BS as my Porsche or BMW never went through pads this fast with their driver assistance programs. My front pads were fine as I have the ceramic front brakes.

The front pads are about $340 with ship and tax if you are doing both. I did not ask about labor on the fronts but the rears were 1 hr.

I hear ya about Porsches, BMWs and their assistance programs, but Mercedes is the only one I have seen to use braking to perform tasks like lane keep assist. For example, most manufactures gently steer the car via the electric steering to put you back in the lane; for whatever reason, MB selectively brakes the wheels on one side of the car to create drag to get the car back into the lane. I don't know that it justifies new pads so quickly, but it certainly could be contributing--depending on how else they are using the brakes to manipulate the car's trajectory instead of steering.
So while it makes sense on paper, it doesn't apply imho.

hey im new here just got a 17 c63s edition 1 cabriolet and when I changed the rear tires I noticed that the brakes were super low too. what route did you end up taking? I have around 15,500 miles and im really surprised that mb when doing the 20k service didn't even notice the rear being so low. I did not check the fronts yet which im a bit afraid to.
