17 c63s edition 1 cabriolet, 2018 gls450
it was misfires from my errors. i have another post most explaining everything but it was misfiring because of a tune i got installed. it wasnt caused by the tune it just need to be replaced. i believe it was the spark plugs and coils if im not mistaken. then before everything i got a electronic rear axle differential lock inoperative which i got that taken care of too. there been alot of things mainly from decisions i done to the car. I have a whole story how i took a perfectly working car and made it worse

I'm not sure how people say the Porterfields are 95% less dust because here are mine after 45 miles ....as you can see there is quite a bit and this is normal driving ,Note the entire wheel has a brownish film and I don't beat on mine . I'm actually going to switch to hawk and try them because I'm tired of seeing all this dust which is almost as bad as stock . My wheels are ceramic coated and yet there is still that much . Perterfields also need to be warmed up somewhat as I almost rear ended someone one cold morning and wasn't expecting that ....

Complete and utter BS. I put on Porterfield R4S and have less squealing than stock. I needed rear pads more than I needed fronts when I changed them at 28k. Think traction control eats the rears alive. Brakes almost as good as stock. A tiny bit less bite deep in the pedal but my guess is it would not be noticeable to most people. I didn’t even really have to bed them either. No squeaks from the initial install. Did a quick few hard stops and was on my way. Bought them on the same site others did for about $375 for all 4 corners and had them installed at a local dallas shop that employs former AMG certified technicans for less than I paid for the pads. Very happy as OEM pads alone would have cost me the same amount without labor.

What going to save you when you lose control? My ESP saved me twice going around on the freeway on ramp at around 70 mph and the rear end step out on me. Lucky for me, the ESP kick-in. It was so scare. It turn out my problem was cause due to My left rear wheel toe/out @ -.17.

I would say it's normal. My rears always squealed with a light brake application. Ended up replacing the rear rotors/pads at 25k miles. Haven't had to replace the tires yet.

Brake Pad related question (Yes I searched): I was dropping my car of at a custom shop to replace my brake pads with EBC red and they told me I also need to replace the "brake sensors"? Is that indeed the case and really needed?

Yes, replacing them is normal when changing the pads, I think you can re use the old ones if you're careful. They are pretty inexpensive so it makes sense just to replace them. One in the front and one in the back.

Thanks a lot - just learned they are cheap enough not to worry about it - when I ordered the pads they did not come up as a needed, related part to replace but easy enough to get them now that I know.

So, I just had my brake pads replaced...like 4 weeks ago and today I started to get a warning: "check brake pads" and the red "Brake" lamp comes on intermittently. Cant be the pads, they are new, new sensors too...what are the experts think the cause might be, install error?
Had it installed in a reputable shop, not myself. Will take it back there but wonder if anybody had similar experience after changing pads?
