C63S over the other options out there

Long story short my wife and i made a deal a few years ago and now I get to buy a FUN car in 2019.

I test drove a 2018 C63S last year and loved it.

My question is what other cars did everyone look at and compare to and how did you end up on the C63S?

I am headed to look at a 2019 next week in Plano and excited to see the new refresh.

For what I'm looking for there are really only two other options. The M4 and the RS5. I did also consider the 911 or R8, but those would be occasional fun cars only for me, but I don't want a depreciating asset sitting in my garage that I only drive once in a while, so I've always been into 2+2 GT performance coupes. I want something that's raw and fun when busting up the canyon roads and offer rest comfort, cargo space and driving assistance for my long road trips as well as useable rear seats for the occasional passenger and still be fun in normal driving. I'm currently driving a 2013 RS5, which fits the bill perfectly. The new RS5 has become too soft and boring and the M4 lacks driving assistance features and sounds terrible. I'm not going to the track regularly, so the C63/S fits my lifestyle and what I'm looking for in terms of driving entertainment. I've ordered a 2019 C63 S coupe and I'm picking it up in Germany on May 6, and then stay in Europe for 2 months and drive it around on it's home turf. Doing European delivery is part of buying this car. I did it with the RS5. Audi terminated their program recently so that's another reason they fell out off the running for me.

looked at the rs5 sportback, w213 e63s and f90 m5. C63s wwas the only available one and I needed a car asap. Would have gotten the rs5 sportback if it was available at the time for the practicality. As for e63s and m5, I didn't want to deal with 1st year model bugs. C63s coupe sold me on the sound and the way it looks, interior and exterior.

I looked at the M4 competition package and the RS5. In fact, I hadn’t even thought about owning a MB, until I saw a YouTube video comparing the three. We’ve had 3-series BMWs for 15 years. I always wanted an M3/4. I had also owned an Audi TT RS and absolutely loved it. So I expected the RS5 was going to be exceptional.

For me, the RS5 was certainly a great car, but it didn’t stir any passion for driving. It was just ok.

The M4 was also a great car, but also disappointing, in part because the exhaust note just sucked all round. Moreso, though, the interior styling was so close to what we’ve seen in our 3-series cars that it was boring and tired.

So, I tried the MB. The interior styling is so top-notch and so fresh to me, I was immediately loving it. But, it was the growl it made when the dealer started it that got my attention. And when he punched out of the dealership, there was just no comparison. Search was over. About the same time I learned of what they were doing with the facelift compared to the 2018 and it became a must have.

You’ll pay quite a bit more for the S model over either the M4 of the RS5. But, for me, it was worth every penny.

BTW, Todd Hartung was my sales guy at Plano. Great guy. Just ask for the Hello Kitty deal ... it’s a private joke, so he’ll know exactly who referred you.

HaHa. I will say hi if I see him. There is a guy i follow on linkedin that I already contacted. To be honest i haven't looked at the M4 or RS5 due to the fact i really want get a V8 before they all disappear. I have a buddy who owns a dodge dealer so i figured i would look at the hellcat and possibly a ZL1 camaro. I have a feeling i will miss the fit and finish of the MB. I drive a F150 for work everyday, so i would like for my once in a long long time hall pass from the wife not to be a rattle box.

I looked at a Guilia Quatrofollio and an M3. Ultimately the reliability of the Guillia and starkness of the M3 interior ruled them out. I got the AMG because it had a bettersound, better interior and more comfort than the other two. Plus, I can have fun with it without hooning it. The other two require some neck wringing to extract fun.
