Toll roads...

TWO 50 mile quality control drives? As if one isn't enough...

Please expose this dealer so other members don't go there.

Correct, MY19 onwards have a new online platform called Mercedes Me Connect. It has a separate app also called Mercedes Me Connect or just Mercedes Me for markets that never got the old app. The new platform seems richer and more capable. Traffic data is now from TomTom over the LTE connection instead of SiriusXM on the older cars for example.

i had my truck at a rather distant relatives shop to figure out a weird smog fail.
he did have to drive the truck for awhile for the computer to get a new baseline.
this had to happen a couple times because the first just showed a second part was still failing.

Having said that, we’re talking 20 miles here. I’d still be very suspicious. 100 miles is a bit much for a CEL unless its something really intermittent.

I know this is my personal rant, but just think: Most of us have at least 4 cameras on our MB cars, with no means to utilize them as dsah cams. Would be a simple matter of MB offering the option of recording with these cameras.

Yeah there is no way they needed 100 miles, and two trips of 50 miles to ensure a CEL doesn't come on. They're trying to play dumb, this sounds fishy. I'd be more pissed off at that excuse than the actual 100 miles on my car tbh. Find a new dealer.

i dont want to out the dealership just yet, but I am struggling buying into 2 50-mile drives being necessary. I’m going to make some more inquiries into this quality control ride “practice” and try to get some independent, authoritative insight into whether this is as excessive as most of us think it is. I’m going to start with MBUSA, since I’ll obviously get no further with the dealership. If there’s a better or more specific contact or route to take, I’d appreciate hearing it.

It might be possible for an independent Mercedes shop to check the data logs and see how the car was driven for those 100 miles, that would prove whether or not it was a joy ride. Being an outsider and just reading your story it's obvious they took your car and abused it, I would raise hell.

Exactly -

A dealership where lying comes that easy -

What else are they also less than truthful about -

Thank-You

Looks like a pretty neat installation; not a lot of extraneous wires, which I was concerned about. The DR7590S happens to be a model I looked into. So all in all, you're pleased with it's performance? How is it at night? No problems with the dash cam interfering with the distronic system (if you have one)?

Was that something you changed yourself or was it just like that from the start? Are you on Android or Apple? It's a small thing, but it bothers me.

Extremely pleased with the performance. It is superb at night. The Wi-Fi enabled feature is very nice since I can easily view all the recordings on my app (no need to even touch the SD card). If you have in-car Wi-Fi, the dashcam can also automatically upload to the cloud. The dashcam is also GPS enabled, so it will record not only speed but exactly the route of the car by map. I'll never have to worry about valet/service again.

Most importantly it has parking mode and it will record while the car is parked. It will record any time it senses motion or if it detects an impact with its G-sensor. This thing is worth the money.

I don't have distronic, but I can't see how it should negatively affect it since the dashcam would be installed underneath the Mercedes camera unit (see the big OEM black box right above the dashcam in the picture).

I don't recall changing (or being able to change the image of the car; however, my sales guy set up the app with me at the dealership, so he may have had something to do with it. I really don't know.

To further illustrate how "kludgy" the Mercedes Me and the Mercedes Me Connect APPs are, the picture of "my" car on the Mercedes Me APP is tpre-facelift. The only thing MB is consistent with is their inconsistency.

Nice setup, Xec! Assume that's the 2-channel IR variant of the DR750s? Did you DIY the install or have someone do it? If the latter, mind sharing (since we live in the same area)?

BTW, for all those following along, I did send a letter off to MBUSA inquiring about my dealership's "QC drives." Looking forward to the response. Regardless, I've done as much research as I can online short of trying to get access to the Mercedes Information System for current workshop guides on the model. But, I have run across 2-3 references that do actually seem to suggest that multiple drive cycles totaling 50-100 miles may be necessary to clear CEL codes and assure they won't be coming back on -- particularly for those codes that tie into the emissions monitoring. My CEL code was a purge valve fault (ties into the EVAP monitor), so would fall into that category. (sigh) ...

CrashTX, I looked back at my invoice when I had a cel. Tech swapped out 2x coil packs to confirm that it was misfiring and knew exactly which one was bad and replaced the 2x coil packs. Looking at my odometer reading in/out it said 1944/1944. So I would say a sensor vs faulty coil packs, my tech should've "test drove" my car to confirm but it was never needed. But what I relay to my SA to tell the tech what to fix exactly has all been correct, so that's why they know not to bs me.

Thanks! Yes this is the 2-channel variant.

I got it installed actually at the dealer you got your car from (and presumably the one you serviced it with?). They have a guy who's a pro at these installs.
