Frequent oil top up??

Since updating new software my car has been asking me to top up 1 litre of oil every few days is this normal?

My car is almost 4 years old, mileage at 29,000 km.

Did you confirm the need with the dipstick?

No car would need oil ever few days without a leak, or a bad sensor.

My Porsche, which are known for burning oil (even in the water cooled cars) doesn't burn much oil at all. Once a year, if I was driving overly spirited for the year, would ask for a quart.

Just had the ECU update last week. No unusual oil consumption. On the other hand, since September 2018, it drank a liter of coolant. MB says everything is ok... pressure test, no leaks etc... we'll see

Did you have the oil changed while the car was in for the ECU update? The reason I ask is because the oil level sensor on our cars is supposedly fairly close to the full level and doesn't take much less than that to set off the warning. Maybe the new oil level is the slightest lower than before.

I used to get the warning fairly often (pre-ECU update, and usually after getting on the throttle hard), but every time I checked the dipstick it showed the oil was not low.

If the dipstick shows the level to be normal and over time continues to do so, I would not worry about.

No but they topped up my oil while doing the ECU. The dipstick seems to show enough oil. Will monitor thanks.
