Just an FYI,

While the 10 ohm resistor fixed the flicker on my puddle lights, I also have aftermarket turn signals which are fed off the same puddle light power (for a blue animation effect when unlocking doors). This is outside of the resistor circuit.

When I tested with turn signal wire attached, the puddle light flicker came back. So I upped to 20 ohm (two 10 ohm resistors in series) on the puddle lights and now both work together.

I will also try a single 15 ohm later.

blue animation effect when unlocking doors.

I also have a orange, sequential light installed with the puddle lights. From testing the OEM appear to draw ~ 100mA +/- 20mA and therefore I used a 65Ohm to go down to 120mA. If you are higher you are likely in the gray zone where other current draws, like the mirror turn signal lights push you over the edge of the MB built in current sensor.

But doesn't 65 ohm bring your puddle light voltage drop to only around 4 or 5 volts? I wanted to stay at around 9 volts.

No, the resistor has nothing to do with voltage but max current.

I found the latest version of the lamp does not require any resistors and is thinner and easier to install.

bump as I just did this. My passenger puddle light went out and replaced with the large eBay amg puddle lights.

for the passenger side with 360 camera, on top of the puddle light area is a raised wall of black plastic. Just stick some strong needle nose pliers thru the puddle light opening, squeezing parts of the wall and twisting off. Just go across the entire wall and remove. It’s a tight fit, but it fits. I didn’t break any clips.

also; no need to remove the inside cover as some videos showed. You just need a long bit and you can unscrew the 360 camera with the available space.

Bumping this thread as I have recently installed puddle lights in my W213 E63S AMG. The process was fairly simple:
  1. Remove the carbon fibre mirror housing (clip-on)
  2. Remove the mirror to gain access to one of the screws (clip-on)
  3. Remove the 2 T10 torx screws holding the "frame" piece that is positioned on the side nearest the vehicle and hang aside (also has some retention clips that can snap easily - be cautious)
  4. Remove the 2 T10 torx screws holding the 360 camera and hang aside.
  5. Disconnect all the plugs and hang aside
  6. Carefully remove the old puddle lights, retention clips on both sides (I ended up snapping the outside clip on the passenger side, but was able to super glue it back in place and it holds fine)
  7. Insert new puddle lights into retention clips
  8. Re-connect all the plugs and test for alignment/working light.
  9. Re-install 360 camera w/ torx screws (be sure to seat into the clips)
  10. Re-install the "frame" piece w/ torx screws (be sure to seat into the clips)
  11. Re-install the mirror into its clips
  12. Re-install the carbon fibre housing into its clips
Et. voila
