Worth fighting or just move on - Tire wear in a month
tl;dr I bought a CPO mercedes (wear and tear items should be at a minimum of 60% or be replaced with new). Bought my car in the winter so I didn't use my summer tires until 3-4 weeks ago. Yesterday, they see the cords on my front left tires and are trying to tell me it's normal tire wear from atleast 60%.
I just recently picked up a C63 (absolute hoot to drive) this January. As we're in Canada, I immediately switched out to winters, the only driving on those summers I did was from the dealership straight to my mechanic, same day.
Switched out 3-4 weeks ago to summers again, and I start getting vibrations 2 weeks ago. Go to mercedes to check it out and they tell me they can see cords on my front left tires. No other tires have that much wear and they're trying to sell me a new set of tires (whatever, they're a dealership).
I talk with them on the phone and they tell me that these are performance tires and that performance tires wear out quicker. I think I have an easier time believing that they sold me a CPO car that wasn't at 60% for wearable items than PSSs wearing down to the cord from 60% in a span of a month (at most). No, car was not tracked, they can check my brake pads and rotors and see it was normal street driving. Even if the alignment was off, it would take more than a month to see wear down to the cord.
I've asked the dealership to send me a spec sheet of the condition of my car at the time of sale. No response.
Do I just call it a day and pick up some PSS or P4s for my front? Or do I fight this? Why did I buy a CPO in the first place? I could've bought a normal used, got my mechanic to do an inspection, and replaced all the wearable items with the money I saved.
Thank you,
