2015 C63S AMG
Warranty Question
I have a 2015 Edition 1 C63S.
My warranty is coming to an end next month so I went to the dealership to get quotes on extending the warranty. Note I just reached 30k miles on the car.
Here is what they quoted me:
5yrs 75k = $4,600
5 yrs 100k = $5,462
6yrs 75k = $6,055
6yrs 100k = $7,015
7yrs 75k = $7,705
7 yrs 100k = $8,165
They also included warranty service quotes that I. Curious about
2 services= $1,365
3 services = $1,915
I have a few questions below:
1.) Are these numbers in-line with what some of you are paying for an extended waranty?
2.) Is the extended warranty even worth it?
3.) On the maintenance side is that a good deal or no? I was able to get my A service each time for $100 at Buckhead Atlanta dealership. And the B service was $399. I'm moving to Texas so I'm not sure what type of deals I'll be able to get out there.

The warranty seems quite expensive. Is that the norm for C63/C63S ? To get an additional year of warranty / 75k miles, paying $4,600 seems really high. Am I interpreting the warranty terms incorrectly?

$4600 for 5 years 75k miles isn't too bad. I thought I saw other quotes of $6500 for 3 years for the c63s.
My warranty ends in November so I'm looking to get Extended warranty. I'm wondering if I sell the car will the new buyer be able to use the extended warranty I bought.

Is this 5 years after the original 4-year warranty ends or just one year extension to the original 4-year warranty? In the mbusa website, I only see extension options of one, two and three years for Extended Warranty in the pdf and hence I interpreted this as the latter.

I don't see such an option on the mbusa extended warranty brochure. AFAIK MB doesn't offer such. Audi for instance offers a max total of 10 years from original purchase date wrt extended warranty, but MB's is only 7 years in total including the no cost 4-year warranty.

it's an additional year. i have been looking at extended warranties too since my factory warranty is almost up. i can't make sense of these prices though. either mercedes is taking us for a ride on these warranties, or they are priced with the expectation that some seriously expensive repairs will occur in the first/second year out of the factory warranty.

it's similar, but not exactly the same. the factory warranty was complete, no exceptions. the brochure i was given from the dealer for the mercedes elw had certain exclusions, but nothing outrageous.

Warranty is worth it esp if you have carbon fiber.. just the regular side inserts non aero are 3500$.. I have tiny peeling around the rear sensors in my cf diffuser now and Mercedes is replacing it.. can hardly tell even in a zoomed in pic but I found it.. that is at least around 3k. The dealer is still working on the side inserts with aero and cf packages. They were going to give me the non aero in cf but are working on if I have to take the $3500 credit or if they will let me wait to just get the aero ones in cf that are on the 2020 when the part becomes available... point is Mercedes taxes hard on the carbon fiber. With install time the extended warranty is definitely worth it esp if you have carbon fiber components.
you can see the clear coat peeling which looks opaque.. if I had the car ppf and they didn’t notice this and it started to show Mercedes told me they can’t warranty it if any coatings or ppf are used on the carbon fiber. Glad it’s the only pieces not coated and they honor the warranty. Crazy I can’t add protection but the clear coat isn’t the same as the rest of the car. It’s more sensitive for some reason.

Yes LOTS of HookUps for Deals on Mercedes Extended Warranty.
But........NO HookUps on Mercedes AMG C63’s. They are set by Mercedes and you ain’t gonna get a better deal, and if you do, it’s not going to enough to make any difference in you purchasing it.
On my 2017, currently have 21,000, it was higher than what you listed above. If I could get 5 years or 75,000 miles for what you listed, I may consider that as these things are expensive to repair.
But my thoughts, today, 3 years away from warranty being OUT, is it’s way too damn expensive.
For the $6-7,000 it costs, you likely would never get your money back unless you blew an engine or a tranny. Good Luck!! If you do find a DEAL on C63’s let us know.

MBWorld Fanatic!
When shopping ELW (which extends original New Car Warranty) which frankly is the very best warranty you can buy - or added CPO (which extends original 1yr Free CPO) which is the best "used MB" coverage you can buy - best bet is to call Jeff Jackson Tafel Motors in Louisville (502) 565-4410
Jeff/Tafel have set the sound business strategy on how to handle their forum/referall business - they use the added warranty business that comes to them thru forum referral as added warranty volume (# of addded warranties) with MBFS - so for forum referrals you get A#1 price from Jeff/Tafel with no bullsh*t.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I've always felt that extended warranties were a complete ripoff. Yeah, if you're the unlucky one that has a major drivetrain issue, it can save you. But in every other circumstance you are paying way more for the warranty than you'll get out of it. Mercedes only sells these at a margin where they make money on it.
With the prices people have quoted for these warranties that only extend for another year or two of coverage, I just don't see how the numbers add up in anyone's favor other than MB.
And now after I say all this, my out-of-warranty '15 C63S is going to blow an engine next week.....

Yes, I very recently owned a 2015 C63s 4 Door Coupe Edition 1. I was around 45k on mileage and the prices you were quoted were about the same I was quoted. You need to guesstimate if time or mileage is more important. Figure out how many miles do you expect to drive a year? Do you really need the 100k mileage warranty or just the extra years?

It truly is a gamble. If we could only predict the future. AMG repair cost are inherently higher than non-AMG Mercs. My service manager told me that replacing a turbo for that car can cost $15k. On the other hand the warranty is top-notch and Mercedes (or at least my dealership does a great job on anything my car ever needed). In fact they replaced both of my front brake calipers (at no cost to me) just because the paint had faded. I hadn't even noticed it. In my option, it's better to bank that money and take your chances. Odds are you'll come out ahead but of course, like any other investment, there is a level of risk. By the way, extended warranties are transferable or refundable for a certain amount of time if you don't use it.
I checked into purchasing a third party warranty with my credit union and they typically offer pretty good deals on these. However, it turned out that will not sell a warranty for any other type of high-end or exotic sports car, i.e. Maserati, Lambo, Ferrari, etc.
Another option is to trade your car in on a new one and take the money it would cost you to buy an extended warranty and use that towards a down payment. if you purchase a new 2019 or 2020 C63S the extended warranty you can add at time of purchase costs about 50% less than an ext warranty for your 2015 C63S. That's exactly what I did and now I don't have to worry about any expensive repairs for many years and will likely sell the car before it expires. I didn't really come out ahead financially but I was considering buying a new one anyways.

Ask your Service Advisor to see what the anticipated cost is for your upcoming maintenance schedule. Cost are different for A and B services and he/she can take a look to see what you could expect to pay for those based on what services you have already completed. If you plan to use your Merc dealership then the prepaid maintenance may save you some money. Also, it's nice to have the loaner cars whenever I take my car in.
Good luck on whatever you decide.
