Replace Plastic Front & Rear Door Lock "PINS" W205 AMG

2019 Just wanted to Add Something to the Forum because this seems like a Mod people Want, but are scared to do. I searched and read a lot of threads about people replacing their plastic door lock pins for aluminum ones, but many were older posts. Everyone was saying the fronts screw off nice and Easy, but the Rears were HARD, and attach with a PUSH On and Off onto a little ball, non-screw and I saw many pictures of this and it is true for some models. Many posts said the only way to do it right, without super gluing them was to take the door panel off and also that the rear pins are shorter than the fronts. All this may be True for certain models, BUT this is what I did on my 2017 C63 AMG Sedan (W205):

Last night I screwed my 2 Front Platic Pins Off counterclockwise and replaced them with the aluminum replacement pins and they looked GREAT. I was leaving the Rears Alone after reading horror stories of the rear pin's falling down in the door panel, and how many did the fronts, but were scared to mess with the rears. I was at the dealer today and showed my SA the fronts I replaced, and he said it looked good. I repeated what I heard, and said, "I didn't do the rears because they are hard and don't screw on and off". He even said, Yeah the rears are Hard! So I assumed what I read was True.

Usually, when you rush and are impatient, you break S%^&*. But I was impatient and curious and just went outside and started unscrewing and wiggling the REAR plastic pins with pliers using a towel over the pin. After screwing and pulling upwards, one of the rears Pops Off! Oh %^&* I broke it! But then I look down and notice 2 things:

1. The REAR Pins on MINE are the Exact same Length as the FRONT Pins.
2. My Rear Pins are ALSO Screw-On exactly like my Fronts and the bare pin has threads exactly as the Fronts did.

So 5 minutes later I have ALL 4 done and my rears are screwed on TIGHT and looked Awesome! So it may be worth a Try if you have the same AMG. Some pins say AMG on Top, but the ones I saw in the showroom at the dealer today on a 2019/2020 AMG had the same looking ones as I got below. I forgot where I got these. Just look on Amazon, EBay, and you will find these or ones you may like. The main thing is to figure out if all 4 of you pins are the Same Length, and if your rear posts have threads or the little plastic ball that is pressure fit.

Good Luck!

Have ran Brabus door pins on my C36, C43, C32, both 204 C63s, and now my C63S and they have always looked so much better. Even have a set in my W201 2.3-16 Cossie
