Getting AWE Track Exhaust Installed in the Morning.
What settings does your “I” consist of?
So the Valves once hooked up to power are Always Closed by Default?
The VALVES on my Switchpath (without power hooked up yet) are always Open so I haven’t heard what it sounds like when CLOSED.
I plan to leave Valves open the majority of the time, BUT under certain situations, I’d like to reduce volume and get rid of the Slight Drone. With the Valves Closed how much quieter is the exhaust and do YOU notice the slight Drone is eliminated completely, or at least reduced?
How long does it take to get a wiring harness ?? Keep us posted.
I am trying to understand the delays.. I myself have dealt with AWE , and although the majority of the conversations and such were in the positive, I do have to say a few things.
I purchased my 2017 C63s used, and the prior 1 owner, had purchased the switchback exhaust and had it installed @ 2 months before I purchased it.
AWE would not honor the warranty on the purchase, because I was NOT the original purchaser .. (I was taken back by this, but was able to negotiate a discount on my "H" pipe which FAILED)
Now, even during the production for my replacement, which took over a month, I was sent an email from AWE that my shipment was delayed due to a Quality Control inspection found a faulty valve !! ( the exact REASON I was just charged to replace the one on my car )
So at this point, I have ZERO positive outlook, as they should have done this replacement due to knowing this is a problem.
Since my experience, I have had multiple people tell me they have had the same issues with the valves.
I am starting to come under the belief that AWE-Tuning, is sort of just a front end, Engineering, Production, Tech Support, are all areas that you cannot talk to, and they have to reach out to them on your behalf, and lends me to think the above.
(not that there is actually anything wrong with it, but it does explain a lot)
As for the people I dealt with (and if you ever call AWE, you will get 1 of 3 people max, period, never anyone else, no matter what, when or the number you call... ) They were nice, and clearly were looking to help me, but always referenced policy and what the "owner" would allow and not allow.
My only issue which has not been perfect is that I got the wrong wire harness for my Non Performance Exhaust so I couldn't make the valves work. I got the exhaust installed July 28th, and then we realized we had the wrong wiring harness. So eventually it has to go back up on a lift again when I find time so I can finish the install.
No Biggie on the wrong harness, things happen, I get it. But the frustration was it should have been handled and resolved when I informed them what happened. A simple wire harness that would fit in a small padded envelope turned into a bit of an ordeal. You do have to fill out an online form and there is a bit of a process to follow to return something on an existing order. I LOVE AWE, they are a GREAT Company, with amazing Manufacturing and People like Josh and John!
I just saw an e-mail that The Wire-Harness Shipped Out Tonight from Fed-Ex
Next step is taking out the trunk liner to find a power wire to Tap into, then it says you cut a tiny hole in a rubber plug to fish the harness under the car. It will likely make more sense once I actually get into the install and SEE IT.............
