2020 CLA45s vs used 2017/2018 c63s coupe
With one optioned, could get close to a price of a used c63s coupe 2017/2018. Which one would you choose? CLA looks like it might have an edge on the style, looking like a baby GT four door. Updated interior as well. They are different cars but close in price. Thoughts?
c63s 2019 coupe is out, I dont like the sound on it, especially after owning a previous one. I wonder if the CLA45s will have the same filter in the sound.

Not sure where you're located. The Hatchbacks are not coming to the US. Also, only the CLA45 was announced in the US press release I believe but not the CLA45S. May be they will announce the S models later for the US.
I feel that the new CLA45 looks quite good (compared to the prev gen CLA). Comparing to a C class, it is more compact and agile. However it is still a front biased 4WD car and the dynamics would be different than a traditional RWD or rear biased 4WD. The Drift Mode might help a bit too here I guess.
In terms of pricing, I would be curious to see how much difference there will be between a C63/C63S and a CLA45/CLA45S.

Reviving an old topic here, but I stumbled upon an interesting video. It's in German though which I don't understand, but it seems that whoever gets off the line first wins, which pretty much looks like the performance is neck and neck. As per specs the c63s is faster 0 to 60 but slower in the 1/4 mile, but we are talking tenths of a second.
Frankly I'm feeling a bit cheated, and tempted to buy a cla at the same time. It has half of everything, 4 cylinders, 1 turbo, 2.0L but 4matic.

AWD is superior from a dig, there are no two ways about it, but dynamically the C63 is on a very different level being true RWD etc. I don't know what this obsession with 0-60 is. It says very little and is rather uninteresting, unless you spend your time drag racing from red light to red light. Kinda lame as far as I'm concerned. The 45 are pocket rockets, especially the A45 and great in tight spaces such as found in Europe, but having driven the A45S and C63S back to back just this Sunday at the AMG winter experience, there are worlds between the two. The A/CLA 45S are cheaply built and very FWD heavy w/ a turbo hole the size of Texas. We tried to drift them and even in Drift mode they are a pain in the rear. Doable with a lot practice, but honestly it's a great car to zip around town, but I'd take the C63S over it any time. The C63 feels more expensive and is dynamically way superior. A true RWD drift machine of course w/o a bunch of computers and a trick differential making you believe you can drift the car. The great addition to the FL C63S is the 9-stage traction control, which especially on snow and other slippery surfaces lets you gradually approach the limits and find the balance.
