Bump - does anyone know how to remove driver side rear coil that's under the fuel rail? It is required to detach the fuel line for clearance?

I haven't done it, but from what I've seen it looks like the fuel rail needs removed in order to gain access.

If anyone cares to post a VIN someone can post the WIS procedure. It seems there were differences between models and years.

Everyone on the forum seems to simply run the stock plugs, Even with stage 2 mods/ tune. I am doing so and they are holding up great.

What are the intervals for spark plug change? I think there's something off how my car builds boost after stage 2 tune. When i slam on the throttle (while rolling in 3rd) the car goes quick ,but the pull and G force doesn't increase until 1 sec or so (after 4k rpm). Is this just increased turbolag with the stage 2 tune?

What was the torque spec for the plugs? Also any thing to know or watch for when removing and installing the fuel lines, besides the spilled fuel as mentioned?

So I got the coil out just by opening the fuel line and taking a bolt off the top support bracket of it and slightly moving the line out of the way. The car has been sitting a few days so when I opened the fuel line no gas came out! Here’s a picture of how much I moved the line to get the coil out. The hardest part was pulling the damn coils out off the plugs!

That's exactly how we just did it on mine last week. Snuck it right past the one fuel line.

For stock, it's 50k (is on my '16 anyway, doubt they changed it). Not sure if you'd need to go more frequent if tuned.

I just changed my spark plugs at 29,000 miles. The replacements are OEM.

I bought this C63 used, it had just under 26,000. This car was driven for 2 years by the original owner and sat parked for nearly 3 years. It is running stock tune. I did transmission filter and fluid flush and drive line service at the dealership. Everything came back clean at the dealership. Prior to visiting the dealership I did the brakes; line flush, new pads, rotors and rear caliper piston housings. The rear calipers looked a little ugly, so I bought new ones.

You can see these plugs are nasty. I could have probably driven on them longer but for a couple hundred bucks why not just change them.

Glad I changed these.

Reviving an old thread as I'm about to install HKS 1-step colder plugs in the next couple of weeks.
  1. Does anyone have the torque spec for the plugs?
  2. Did anyone apply dielectric grease on the insulator tip or threads? I know it's somewhat of a debated topic but curious as to the experience(s) here
  3. What is the cylinder firing order for the M177? Have a misfire in Cylinder 8 that keeps coming back.

Cheers!

23-24nm has been the torque for plugs on every benz I have done. i didnt look it up in wis for the 205 c63 but ngk makes the plugs so that would be my guess. i didn't apply di grease this time. the boot to plug contact is water tight so it probably doesnt need it and I am sure there is residual grease in the boot still for the electrical metal to metal connection.

check your stock plugs for the gap, for the c43, the oem plugs came gapped .030, our tuner recommends .024 gap for tuned vehicles.

So about 17 ft-lbs, which is what I've seen for other MB engines (i.e. m156). Do you happen to know the cylinder firing order? Trying to figure out which is cylinder 8.
