She finally arrived - 2019 AMG C63s Coupe Brilliant Blue
I finally picked up my (Australian Spec) 2019 AMG C63s Coupe Brilliant Blue over the weekend. It's only been 2 days however the experience has been freaking amazing so far!!! Every time I hit that start button, I find myself smiling. "Emotion start-up" is pretty cool as well but it quietens down too quickly for my liking.
Few interesting points to note:
1. Spoke to an AMG specialist when I went to pick up the car. He confirmed Australian Spec definitely does not have particle filter installed however pops and crackles has been greatly reduced due to EPA standards however overall exhaust tone is louder compared to pre-facelift. We also confirmed this by lining my 2019 against my brother-in-law's stock 2016 C63s sedan. V8 burble is definitely more distinct (deeper) with 2019 when comparing against 2016. Yes the pops and crackles might be greatly reduced (still haven't heard mine) but the sound of that V8 is all you need. I am starting to think it makes it sound more authentic....more real in someways....like those old school V8s.
2. Ride quality of facelift is definitely a lot softer/comfortable while in comfort mode
3. Torque of this thing is amazing even while in comfort mode! Even giving it a little squirt, *** end wants to break traction.
4. For most people out there, this is just another Merc however people that are car fanatics absolutely love this thing. I was getting constant thumbs up, people pointing, turning heads etc....to the point I started becoming a little self conscious.
I am sure as time rolls on I'll have more to say but right now.....the wait and money I spent has been so worth it!
Congrats, nice ride! Regarding Emotion Start, it's become how I start mine most days. While it's revving up, I pretty much immediately hit the exhaust button, so it stays louder and while I'm at it, turn off ECO Auto Start/Stop since the button is right next to it.

Is this a typo? The FL should ride noticeably more comfortable. The revised suspension is one of the highlights of the FL. If you find the FL to ride less comfortable, check your tire pressure and set it to the correct one. Should be 33f/32r (psi).
I agree with you, the FL sounds more authentic. I've been taking it to the canyons the last two weekends for the first time since it arrived in the USA. I've previously only gotten pops&bangs in Race mode and very few in S+, but I've been driving it in S+ both days and it started to pop&bang on downshifts and lift off. At times in 2nd gear I've been getting 3-4 machine gun like pop&bangs from it. It feels more natural, because it doesn't happen consistently, but it seems to do it more the longer you drive it hard and keep it above 4000 rpm.
The car definitely gets quite a bit of attention. Had a guy in a M5 pull up alongside on the highway and gave me the thumbs up, then proceeded the gaze at it from all angles. Was actually getting a bit annoying. He hung out in my blind spot to take in the three quarter view, but I had to get across to make the exit, so I eventually had to gun it and cut over three lanes. Random folks of both sexes seem to notice the car and giving thumbs up and just blurting out things like "I love your car" while causally walking past and most interesting out in the canyons people seem to know that something fast is coming up behind them and/or seem intimated and use the turnouts to let me go by. This is very different from the RS5 I had before.

Congrats. Lovely looking car. I run mine mostly in independent mode where I have the drivetrain set to Race. I get lots of bangs and pops when lifting off (UK 2019 cabrio). Not as loud as the F Type R I had before but overall much nicer V8 burble.

Thanks mate! I'll definitely try your recommendation

Sorry man that was typo. FL is definitely more comfortable. I did however notice tire pressure is all over the place so will fix it up next time I am out.

Haha I honestly can't for the car to be run-in. I did notice exhaust tone inside the car is very misleading (sounds quieter) but outside the car its ridiculously loud.

LoL Totally agree with you, took it for a short drive last night and I had random people complimenting the car pretty much every-time I stopped at a traffic light or catching people doing the side glance thing.

To be honest I am still trying to figure out all the settings. Is it possible to set independent as default startup or does it always start off in comfort?
Congrats nslac.
many more smiles to come.
And yes, the f/l deeper exhaust tone sounds better to me.
Have fun.
You're definitely not wrong there mate, it's all smiles ear to ear. The thing which freaks me out is that the way the drives in comfort mode....just can't imagine how much better it'll get after the break-in period.
My brother picked up his on the same day as well, his loving every single minute as well.

It's quiet inside below 4000 rpm and partial throttle. Nice for cruising, but trust me the volume goes up quickly if you start pushing it past 4000 rpm and full throttle.

No, it will always start in comfort and as far as I know there's currently no aftermarket solution to start in any other mode. However, with the new steering wheel controls, the Individual mode is activated by simply pushing the drive selector knob. So regardless in what mode you are currently in, push the knob and you are in Individual mode. I tend to drive in C around town and the initial few miles to warm it up, but pretty much as soon as I hit an onramp I push the knob and have my preferred settings. I've currently set it up with the transmission in M, drive in S+, suspension in C, Dynamics in Master (will stay in Pro unless ESP is in sport handling or off), exhaust in powerful. I don't particularly like the car in C on the highway, unless I have ACC and active steering enabled. The steering and turn in response of the car is too laggy for my taste at higher speeds in C.

Niceee. I still haven't pushed it past 4k.

Thanks for the feedback! I will def try it once I get familiar with the car.
Looks great from a fellow brilliant blue owner, enjoy! I've put ~4K miles on mine and the exhaust sound and pops have gotten louder and more aggressive since I got it.
I have clocked up around 320km (around 200miles) so far and the experience has been amazing.
Over the weekend I finally decided to drive in race mode (keeping the revs between 2000-3000rpm short shifting) only for few minutes as I wanted to see if there was significant different in exhaust tone.
Mate!! All I say those countless hours spent worrying about 2019s based on bad press its been getting was pointless. Considering I was short (up and down) shifting between 2000-3000rpm, this thing was popping, crackling, farting etc. I had to drive through an outdoor shopping center car park, doing less then 5km/h (3miles)... people were just staring at this thing. Noise getting produced sounds like a old school V8 but coming from something that looks modern must look and sound weird.....even I was shocked how it sounded.
Honestly can't wait until 1500km, then its Sports+ and manual shifting all day every day .
