Parking sensor / Parking mode goes crazy while driving/slowing down at slow speeds

With my 2019 C63S, in the last few weeks I noticed that the parking mode gets triggered in the middle of the drive when driving at slow speeds. For example, today I made a turn at the Stop sign, followed by slowing down and making another turn into my driveway. It entered the Parking mode automatically before the turn into my driveway and started beeping loudly for no reason. There were no cars on the opposite side, but there were few cars parked on the street, but easily few feet away from my car.

The same thing happens when I'm stuck at a light amidst traffic and I'm slowly moving forward.

Another related issue was the distance sensors going really crazy when I was parking adjacent to a very small low-height curb (less than 2 inches lined with bricks).

Has anyone run into these issues?

Our Macan will have the sensor sound when stopped behind another car even though it didn't sound when approaching the other car. For example, at a stop light you can come to a stop without a sound, and then a minute or two after stopping it will sound. It will also do it at random when stopped with nothing in front of it.

My C63S sounds as I approach my driveway due to the curbs and perhaps the incline of the driveway. Personally I'm fine with that as it keeps my rims and lip purdy.

Yes, happens all the time to me. Did take a while to get used to it. At slow speeds it looks for potential obstacles all around the car and starts alerting you if you are close enough. For example when you make a turn and the front sensors see something and then as you turn the side of your car comes closer to that obstacle it starts alerting you to make sure you are not taking the turn too tight and scrape the side of the car. It's too conservative for my personal taste and at the beginning it kept freaking me out, especially on European roads and parking lots that are a lot tighter. There is a setting under parking assist where you can turn off early warnings. That does dial it back, but then I felt the fronts weren't coming on early enough when I'm pulling into a parking spot, so for now I still have it set to early warn. It's not happening as much here in the USA anymore with everything being bigger and roomier, but the parking sensors on this car took a while for me to get used to. Same for the 360 camera. The parking sensors go full alarm every time I pull into my garage as the sidewall is so close. I'm starting to now have a trained eye to spot things better and take advantage of the various camera angles, especially at night to avoid scraping any of my wheels.

Yes, the distance/proximity sensor going off when I'm parking is probably less of a concern. At the same time it is not foolproof and hasn't gone off in many occasions (on one such, I ended up scratching the rim on a downhill curb since I was careless with the steering angle).

However the more annoying thing is that the car thinks I am trying to park my car and enters the parking mode automatically when I'm not doing so. Yes, like both of you describe it happens when you are completely stopped and other cars around you are moving or when you're driving at really low speeds with cars stopped on the side of the road. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but more like 5% I would say. I believe I have mine set at Early Warning too.

When I have more people in the car, everyone gets alarmed - .

No way I could live with a hyperactive alert system like that. Maybe I should be glad I don't have the parking sensors. :/

Mine acts in a manner similar to what the OP and superswiss described. It activates when I turn into my driveway (heavily tree-lined) and into the garage with the S4 already parked. It has not been annoying - and not "hyperactive" - at least not to my thinking. I haven't seen any spurious activation during normal driving.

Just to update, my parking sensors have gone really crazy and generate quite a lot of false alerts especially while driving through traffic with cars in adjacent lanes at speeds below 10mph.

I had taken my car to the dealership to get this checked, and they have ordered new sensors. I will still need to wait a few weeks for them to arrive. Let's see how it goes once they replace them.

Hi There, just wanted to check in if the problem was solved? Mine has recently started doing exactly what you explained. In a couple of the responses above it seems some are just saying the system is sensitive and that's just how it is - this is absolutely incorrect. ould
The system should not be going crazy as you slow down at a light and there are other cars around you. Mine has only recently (last few days) started doing this. Something is clearly wrong.
