Prepaid Maintenance on C63S
Hi All
I have a C63S cabriolet finally delivered to the dealer this week. I will get the inevitable prepaid maintenance offer. There are other threads re this but not specific to C63... I will likely buy the car, not lease. To buy or not to buy, and pricing if anyone has done it would be great.
Thoughts and opinions and other useful info appreciated.

For me, I get it and it saves money. I buy the car and I do put a lot of miles on every one. I usually purchase it when I take the car in for the first service. I've seen the same plans marked up by hundreds of dollars when offered during the car purchase.

I do all my own work except for transmission, brake and differential (fluids). Everything else such as plugs, oil filters, brakes, blades, tires, lube gaskets and hinges are on me. It's fun and keeps me not only busy, but more importantly makes me much more aware of the car I drive at lethal (any speed can be lethal) speeds. I want to know my car; every nuance. I don't trust anyone working my cars as a rule. And, as a rule, I check their work EVERY time. Makes for a safer car and driver, IMO.

I think the consensus is that these save about 15% over just bringing it to the dealer and paying per visit. Can you get it serviced less expensively at an indie or by DIY'ing? Sure. But if you're going to get it serviced at the dealer anyway, might as well get the prepaid.

Why would I take it to the dealer? Oil/filter change? Me. Plugs? Me. Microfilter? Me. Brake pads? Me. Windshield wiper blades? Me. Tires? I've learned to take it to the dealership, so if they screw up the wheel, I get to blame MB and hold them responsible. Not NTB or Discount or Billy-Bob's tire shop and try to get them to belly up to the bar to repair or replace a $500 wheel..

I looked over the terms of Mercedes Pre-paid Maintenence. Its based on time/milege which ever comes first, meaning its to your advantage if you put over 10K miles /yr. on your car, its to your disadvantage if you put less than 10K miles/yr.

Personally, I use the dealer for two reasons:
1) I find that if I have a warranty claim that is "borderline" (I'm thinking of something like brake pad squeal where the dealer can easily just say "they all do that") the dealer is more likely to advocate for you with MB to get something covered if you have a solid service history
2) To ensure SW updates and recalls get done

I leased a car a while ago only because I wanted to keep the cash invested. I made more money by keeping my cash properly invested when compared to my cost of leasing. But my last couple of purchases I used cash. I hate car payments. Just my .02 as I'm sure others have their own opinions.
