The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I contacted the Mercedes Benz Canada customer assistance center and they said no problem I can do the update online.
All I needed to buy a USB flash drive of 32GB and a USB C adapter.
They also told me that I needed to get a subscription to Mercedes ME for $250.00 per year as my original subscription has expired.
I got the subscription and I got access to Geofencing, Remote engine start, and Vevicle locator on my Mercedes Me.
I spent about a week following detailed instructions that MB send me on how to download the maps.
No success.
Finally, I called Customer assistance and a different customer rep told me that the only way to get my maps upgraded is to go and see the MB dealer.
I called them and they told me that I can do the upgrade online.
I told them that Customer assistance told me that only the MB dealer can do it for me.
Finally, they call me back and told me that the dealer can do the update but it will cost me $447.00 CDN.
So simple nav map upgrade will cost me close to $800.00.
Is there another way?

However, if you have CarPlay, forget the MBZ maps. At least in Canada I find the MBZ nav maps to be severely lacking. I've often found that the MBZ nav maps don't know the address of a business that's been there for more than 15 years prior to the date the maps would have been assembled ... and this is in cities in the greater Vancouver BC area, not "out in the boonies." Lame!
If you use an iPhone, you'll also find that you often (or never, depending upon the car's vintage) can't select an address from your phone's contacts and use it's address for navigation ... unless you re-enter it via the car and save it back to the phone. Again ... really lame!
If you do have CarPlay and don't like having to plug in your phone to use it (seriously, who would), there are now reliable wireless interfaces ... search this forum and you'll find some reviews, including from me.

Now, I don't know how well this works with the older cars and the older COMAND system, but it does work great in my FL C63S. I use the phone option most of the time. I just send the destination to the car shortly before I drive off, and then the address pops up on the screen and I just need to start the route guidance from the prompt.

I purchase the Road Top module last year and I was not able to get it working properly. The installation was too complicated for me and the video instruction were in Chinese. After many emails with a vendor, I was not able to make it work.
Thanks for the recommendations.
I would love to be able to use Waze on my car's display through Android Auto.
