Question About External Body Trim Package Duplication
Hello all -
I wanted to post a quick question about the duplication in the body packages for the 2020 C63S, and how others have dealt with this. We currently have the following packages ordered on a car we are picking up in April of 2020 in Germany:
DC1 - AMG Night Package
DC4 - AMG Exterior Carbon fiber 1 Package
B26 - AMG Aerodynamics Package
Duplicated Items from Night package:
Night package mirrors
Night package side sill inserts
Aerodynamic rear spoiler lip
Night package rear diffuser
Other package items that are duplicated against Night package:
Carbon fiber mirrors
Aerodynamic expressive side sill inserts
Carbon fiber rear spoiler
Aerodynamic optimized rear diffuser
We were also going to add the Carbon Fiber 2 package, but there's even more duplication and it adds chrome back on the car. We have been trying to work with our dealer on the issues with this duplication, as it appears we're paying for a few items that we're not even getting. But the packages aren't being discounted on any level to compensate, and nothing else is being offered. We are curious if others have worried about this, or if we might be blowing this out of proportion?
Also, we are wondering if it might just be better to get the Night Package and AMG Aerodynamic Package and then replace the rear spoiler and and mirror covers with carbon once we get the car home? This is what comes in the Carbon Fiber 1 package. Our concern is if the parts sourced from MB are high quality and cheaper than what we might get after the fact? And if there are a lot of after market parts for these areas of the car in carbon fiber?
Our dealer is doing a very poor job of even defining what comes in these packages, and we're surprised that they're not willing to discount the packages due to duplication. Has anyone been able to get a discount? We're thinking about possibly asking for a free tint and discount on the maintenance package in order to compensate, but based on their responses to date we're doubting that will go anywhere. I found as you start adding items, the system will tell you if there's a conflict with another option. Just make sure you read EVERYTHING. If it kicks back an option, try it another way in a different order. My order missed the NightPkg and front ventilated seats. I've already ordered the CF replacement pieces (3) for that ugly silver strip in the front. The silver lip just pops off.

Thanks for the response. I think in this case the bigger problem is one can order all 4 packages, even though there is duplication across them. I
I am not sure why they allow one to do this, or have designed these packages in a way that is a detriment to their customers. But it appears they're OK with this, since the dealer and MB/AMG are well aware that the duplication exists, and that it's causing consternation and confusion with their customers.
