To dust, or not to dust, that is the question
Front end of my 2019 coupe is covered in Xpel (bumper, guards, bonnet and mirrors) whereas rest of the car is bare.
In recent weeks I've noticed a lot of (fine) dust just sticks to Xpel and lot of dust also settles on the tail end. I've never had dark colored car so this was never an issue however now it's starting to bug me. Especially the way brilliant blue shines, every freaking imperfection shows up including dust.
I always leave the car covered because my dog has access to the garage so throwing car cover on a dust covered car isn't a good idea. I always end up giving the car a quick hose down and shammy before leaving her covered for rest of the week.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? I am contemplating getting 1 of those static dusters to see if it can help me get rid of the dust. Does anyone have any other suggestion?

Quick dust or even a full wipe down with detail spray will be fine on the PPF, as it is self healing. On the other parts I would suggest you look into Rinseless car soap to give it a quick wipe down before you cover it.
Agreed with what Beast said. DO NOT put a duster on your car you will create swirls and regret it immediately. The waterless wash will soak up the dust and when you wipe with a clean microfiber you wont create swirls and youll be left with a clean surface. I use Rev Auto Supply products but theres a bunch out there. i have a discount code of you want it just send a dm
Two words - Ceramic Pro
This will significantly cut down on how much dust will stick to the car...and also allows you to wipe it down with a detail spray (and very good microfiber towel) without scratching the car. This is my approach!

And I never wash my car. I used Mothers Waterless Was & Wax...and actually my CP installer said the waterless wash & wax products are perfect for CP.
I should not say I never wash my car...mine is a DD and if I get caught in a few rain storms during the week (rare here in AZ), I will go to a self help car wash and rinse off the car (with water only) to get any road grime sticking to the car off.
Then I speed dry it on the way home (that is always fun
) and then once it cools down I do my Mothers Waterless wash & wax process. I think it works great and the car looks amazing.
PS Mothers wash & wax smells like bumble gum when applying...LOL

Do not dust the car. In fact, you should never rub anything on the car if it the surface isn't lubricated. Swirls are caused by dragging dust across the surface.
Waterless wash such as Adam's waterless is fine for very light dirt such as dust. If it's any dirtier, you have to upgrade to rinseless wash such as ONR. If it's really dirty (i.e. after driving in filthy Northern winters), then you need to rinse it with running water.
Finally, dirt on the back of the car is normal. Every car is like that because the wheels kick up dirt that lands on the rear of the car since there is much less air movement back there to sweep the dirt away.

Is this what you use?

But I only recommend this process if your car has a very good application of Ceramic Pro.

I can't say I have dust specifically only settling on the XPEL (obsidian black), but mine wraps around the edges. During the dry summer months the car gets dusty all over. I use a California Duster between washes. Doesn't scratch the paint if used correctly. Key is light touch and not applying any pressure.

After looking at some of the videos (applying waterless wash).....it seems like it still requires fair bit of work. Maybe I should just stick to hosing down the car and drying it off when required

I was hoping to test out something similar to California Duster. Dust on the car is very light and loose which can easily come off using high pressure air hose (sometimes its not practical turning on air compressor at night).

The California Duster has been around for a long time and it's proven. It's coated in wax and the more you use it the better it works. Not sure if available Down Under. I also have a touchless car wash less than a mile from my house, so I kinda alternate between a quick dusting with the CA Duster, touchless wash and detail spray afterwards if I feel like it, and then a proper hand wash every few weeks. I used to be a lot more **** about washing my cars every couple of weeks, but I have outgrown it and it really hasn't kept the paint in any better condition. Was considering ceramic coating, but I don't really see the value, either. I keep the car garaged and the paint looks great even after several years. Have owned metallic black cars for over a decade now and getting compliments for how well the paint looks every time I sold one. I usually keep them for about 6 years. One can go insane over cleaning/protecting their cars. I do use proper two bucket method and products from Adam's Polish when I hand wash it. The two months I was in Europe I took it to regular car washes, although I sought out high-end car washes and car spas, but they all ultimately used rotating brushes, but the European car washes are clean and known to be better than even a hand wash. Paint looked great and then it was detailed properly before installing XPEL. Hand wash, even two bucket methods actually leaves a lot more scratches than many people realize, so I try not to do it as often as I used to.

You don't wash it. That's part of the genius. Just shake it out, or you can use compressed air to blow out any loose dust. But the dust essentially binds with the wax and lifts other dust particles off the car's surface. The dirtier it gets the better it works.
