Hey fam- couple of questions..wanted to pick everyone’s brain

Hello All,

just a few questions and wanted to get everyone’s thoughts here. I have a 2020 c63S coupe.. i posted a bunch of pics I’m sure some of you have seen my car, and thank you for all the great comments and feedback on the spec!

I’m having some thoughts on what to do with my car in the future. I definitely want to enhance the sound without question. If i do decide to go the tune and down pipe route, I will go with Velos. Oliver has been more than helpful and more than accommodating with me and all of my questions and i will not forget that. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to tune as Oliver is a forum member and i have heard nothing but great things about their tune.

im highly interested in the AWE track exhaust without having to tune or do down pipes. Anyone have any experience with it?

Also, i am eyeballing aftermarket wheels. Ideally, I’d love to go with HRE’s but dont know if i want to fork over that kind of money for NYC streets.... does anyone have any aftermarket wheels on a coupe that didn’t completely break the bank and still look great? I have looked at HRE’s flow form option which are amazing however unfortunately the fitment on the coupe is less than ideal, at least the ones i liked

sorry for the long post, and thank you in advance for the feedback! Can’t wait to read some of the replies.

What makes you want to enhance the sound?

just not where I’d want it to be. The pre FL delivered way more emotion while driving. Yes, when you are above 4.5k rpms it sounds good but even then , there is room for improvement. This is just my opinion.

Get a quote from Mr. Wheel on HRE. I just got some 19" FF04 from them for a price you can't beat.

I might suggest only modifying the exhaust in a way it can be returned to stock without breaking the bank. Rims you can sell w/wo the car. But you cutting on the exhaust can cause you money when you sell or trade and get dinged for it.

The thinking on wheels for NYC streets should be reversed. Generally speaking, the cheaper the wheel the cheaper the quality. A cheap quality wheel does not have the strength to withstand tough roads. A custom forged wheel typically uses 6061 aerospace-grade aluminum which is the industry standard for strength & durability. I have hundreds of customers in the NYC area with custom forged HRE wheels that have lasted them for years.

If your budget does not allow for custom forged wheels then that is understandable but you're better of with saving cash & using your factory wheels until you can purchase the correct ones that will last you the entire ownership of the car.
