Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has taken the AMG drive academy drift class? I was thinking about signing up but I wanted to see if it id worth the price.

I haven't taken it yet, but I signed up for the one at Laguna Seca. It it is worth it to me, because I really wanna explore the limits of my car in a safe environment. I haven't gotten to the point with it yet where I always know how it will react, because there are so many adjustments between the 4 levels of AMG DYNAMICS and the 9 levels of the traction control if you go as far as turning ESP completely off. I got a taste for the Drift program when I attended the Performance class last year. We were doing the drift exercises using 2019 C63S coupes, but it just wasn't enough time, so I'm looking forward to having a whole day drifting around. It takes practice to fine tune the throttle input etc. and maintain the drift.

Yeah, my only hesitation at the moment is that Drift+ at Laguna Seca is so far out and non refundable. It's a bit hard to plan that far out. In retrospect I should have registered for Drift and Drift+ at COTA March 24 and 25 for a two day event. Oh well. Drift+ at COTA is now sold out anyway. I'll probably go ahead and register for Laguna Seca before it's sold out as well.

EDIT: Oh screw it! I just registered for Drift+

If you have any experience with Drift or Drift+, could you share with us? I'm not sure what to expect since I've only taken the basic course and we did donuts with the C63s, which was fun. Would we be drifting on the actual race track? Or do they setup a drift course in the parking lots? Any information would be great since there's not a lot of detailed information about this course.

There's a pretty good summary on their website. Sounds like Drift is purely in the paddock area (Gymkhana) similar to the drift course they setup for the Performance class or autocross event. Drift+ is drifting at higher speeds including on the track.

I lost my $250 deposit for Seca in October because I was dealing with my RS being in the shop twice for almost a month for a PDK replacement. They wouldn't budge on a refund. However they did give me an extension which was nice. I purchased my 2018 C 63WS on 11/21/2018. I'm signed up for Seca in June of 2020. So at least the extension was something to soften the pain.
