AMG C63 S
Loose part inside of new car

Just picked up a new 2020 c63 AMG s coupe and it’s in the shop already. After hitting 500 miles, started hearing something that sounds like a marble rolling around inside my car. Brought it to the dealership to get it checked out and they removed some debris inside the door panel. Noise is still present so brought it back again for them to remove the seats, panels, and floor board and still can’t find the issue. The technician thinks it’s something within the frame, but waiting for a 2nd opinion from Mercedes HQ. Do you guys think I have a case to request for a new vehicle if they indeed have to further rip apart the car to find the problem?

I don't know if you have a case - yet. I know how aggravating squeaks and rattles can be. I hate them. I'd just go down the path for a bit and see if they can solve the problem.

Keep the faith!

Well that would suck for sure. I can only imagine how difficult it will be to find whatever is rolling around. If something came loose somewhere in the car then good hunting to find it. Your only option is to eventually start a lemon law case if they can't find and fix it before your car qualifies under the law. Unfortunately, you have to give them a reasonable amount of time and attempts for them to find and fix the issue. Check the lemon law in your state. It will spell out what needs to be met for your car to qualify and then hire an attorney and get the process started. Don't expect them to voluntarily give you a different car.

I had a similar issue on my then-new 2019 C63 saloon. When turning right, it sounded as though a marble was rolling in the car. The dealership tracked it down to a random screw under the carpet in the passenger footwell.

They couldn't track where the screw from and didn't seem overly bothered. Personally, on the wrong road surface (which means most of them here in the UK), the car rattles, and I find the odd random plastic screw rolling around in the boot (already been fixed by another dealership, but I can't see where these latest ones have come from). I also had issues with the adaptive cruise control and steering failing that took four attempts to fix - taking parts of the car apart to fix that multiple times certainly wouldn't have helped on the rattle front.

Anyway, hope the first paragraph helps. Good luck!

lol, yea no problem they will tell you go into the showroom for an even trade on a c63 of your choice. dont get offended, im jk. in all seriousness, this would **** me off so much as well but i really don't think a "marble" sound will qualify under any lemon laws or would be worth the time and hassle of hiring an attorney. i dont see this turning into MB giving you a new vehicle. im sure they will find the problem
