Fuel Consumption Test C63S vs BMW 340i MPPK vs Mini Cooper
The cars are the 2019 C63s Sedan, with stock 19 wheels. 6800 miles so far.
The 2016 BMW 340i sedan, with 18” wheels, 360hp ( has the M Performance power and sound kit ), 8 speed automatic, and with 35000 miles.
And my new Mini Cooper, 136hp, 1,5 tri cilynder engine. 17” wheels. 6 speed manual transmission. The car is still in breaking in period with around 950 miles.
So I have chosen only highway roads, very good ones, with some ups and downs. I am living near sea level, so we have a very flat circuit.
The test consists in using CC at 58 mph, almost all the time, and in the downhills disconnect the Cruise Control And let the cars slide. For the Merc I used sailing mode, in the BMW just let it go in 8th gear. In Mini I engaged Neutral ( like the automatic sailing mode ).
i allowed the cars to lose speed until 55 mph, then i accelerated back to 58 mph.
One diference you will see is the final average speed. The C63 is the one that loses more speed, even in sailing mode. That’s why it ended with the lower average speed.
The Error of the board computer. So the BMW has no Error because I adjusted the Correction Factor in the hidden menus. So the gas mileage you see is exactly what you get doing the Math. For the Merc, it has a very low error so it’s very accurate. The Mini i don’t know yet, but it might have some error, so the real result should be a little worse than presented. ( sorry for this fail )
let’s present the results. They are in Imperial mpg.
