Question guys,

So yesterday I dropped my tire PSI to 40F 35R (they were on 44F 40R WTF). My tire pressure light on the dash won't go off now. Is that just something you have to put up with?

You can reset the baseline to whatever you want. Forgot what buttons to press but when displaying the tire pressure, probably hold the home (or another button) long until it resets to the current value.

Soooo I just ordered a set of 255/275 PS4S for my sedan and will be trying to sell the 265/285. The reason for this is, the stock tires setup sidewall in the rear is a 8mm thicker than the front, when you jump to a 255/275 it stays 8mm difference. However when you go up to a 265/285 setup that difference in sidewall thickness drops to 5mm in difference from front to rear. That mixed with the front tire looking slightly bulged on the front wheels makes the front sidewall look too similar to the rear. Maybe I'm picky but after 2 weeks I just decided to go 255/35 and 275/35. I feel like that's probably the sweet spot on the stock wheels, IMO.

I'm stock tune for now so ps4s in 275 should be plenty traction while it's still warm out. I'm in Vancouver so I can't run a toyo r888 when it rains 3/4 of the year. On that note if anyone is in BC and wants to try the 265/285 ps4s that still read 10mm tread depth I'll give you a smokin deal.

Nice. Could you post pics of what you mean before you take the PS4S off? I've been putting serious consideration into moving my 265's to the front and buying 285's for the rear. Don't want to do it and be surprised by the bulk.

Thanks in advance man!

I’m already on my second set of 295’s Toyo px4 plus.
these tires are relatively cheaper that Michelin but you won’t care having fun for the price you’re paying for. I must say, they’re very weird and dangerous for the first 1000 miles I’d say; they make the car unstable on higher speeds, turns, and coming to stops but once you take some layer out of it, they become amazing.

if the rear is decent at 285 why not just replace the fronts with 255 and keep the new rears?

Interested to hear how this setup works for you compared to the stock 245/265 setup. I'm hesitant to go with a 265/285 setup on stock wheels Michelin recommends at least a 9" wide rim for 265's and 10" wide rim for 285's.

I played around on a tire size calculator a TON and I just felt like the difference in overall diameter and sidewall was too much with a 255/285. The difference between a 245/265 setup and a 255/275 setup in those dimensions is pretty similar. For whatever reason the jump from 256-265 in sidewall thickness is greater than from 245/255. Also, the 255/35 front would work with a 295/30 rear if I ever wanted to give that a try for more traction in the future. Seems like a handful of people have ran that tire on the rear of the sedan wheels pretty successfully.

Soo I got them on yesterday and have to say this is the way to go. Something I didn't mention before was that the 265 on the front felt really mushy and unnerving to drive. For example, if you made a lane change it felt like the input from your steering input was delayed and mush and then it felt like you almost had to correct back to the way you came from once you got in the lane. The handling just felt bad and the whole time I was on it it felt bad. I'm not sure if it's the added sidewall flex from more sidewall or the fact that the tire was too bulged/wide for an 8.5 rim but it felt sketchy and that was at 40psi cold. I actually came across another thread while googling about ps4s tires that directly matched my experience that I'll attach just below this reply. I've only put 20km on the 255 front but right away it felt more direct and crisp, seemed to feel much like how the stock tires felt in that regard. I didn't notice any less traction on the 275 rears either. From a roll I can't get second to spin in a stock car which I easily could on the stock tires. Also, everyone agrees it just looks way better this way. On 265/285 the whole car physically looked like it was sitting perched up higher, it had a weird look like it was on a drag tire setup sitting up all high.

The other post I was talking about:

I toyed with the idea of going down to a 30 series front and rear but the sidewall would be a good bit thinner than stock and ps4s doesn't have a 285/30. Here's the 265/35 front:
