This seems like a great mod for reasonable $$$. I just looked at Milltek (I've had a full downpipe/catback setup on my older 2004 Audi S4 for probably 15 years now and it has held up well) and what looks their equivalent product is over $5,300. Does anyone know why such dramatically different prices?

yes they are wrapped but haven’t noticed any burning smells or smoke just yet. The smell I am talking about is the normal exhaust smell associated with HFC. It’s not bad at all.

Honestly, exhaust is really not needed after the DP’s.

I need to check out a C63 with catless downpipes so I can see how bad the odor is. I don't want to smell like exhaust when I get out of my car if I have been sitting in traffic (been there and done that in the past).
I’ll be frank, catless downpipes in this car have a lot of odor. If you want to minimize that I’d recommend the high flow catted option.

How was the overall fit and approx how long was the install?
Fit was perfect. Really looks like a quality product. Install was a bit long since there was initial Dyno, then they had to let it cool down for a while before actual installation. Dropped it off around 10 in the morning and picked it up around 6.

Short video. Excuse the quality as I didn't have the proper mount and using my old GoPro.

DAMN sounds good. The crackles and pops aren't over the top like you see in a lot of setups where it sounds like fire crackers went off in the exhaust or sounds like an AK 47 clip. Looks like all the facelift really needs to make it sound like it should are catted downpipes. Catless downpipes I feel like tend to make the crackles and pops over the top, at least from what I've heard so far of them.

Can't wait to do catted downpipes this summer.

Could you please do another short video revving the car in race mode while parked?

Sure will do. FL cars don’t rev past 4K but it does crackle and pop now. It was barely noticeable before.

I agree. I’ve never understood the crazy amount of continuous pops. Sounds perfect now.

Sorry if the video sucks, here is mine with an aftermarket exhaust. Sounds a lot better in person.

Wanted to throw in my videos now that i've gotten the DP put on and a tune done. I have used these guys parts for a couple of different mods on my car and i have to say i am VERY pleased with these downpipes. I also had a tune done by a local shop. I felt the same as some of ya'll: I was unsure of what it would sound like on my car. Here's a few vids i took of mine over the weekend. I have a 2019 C63 AMG W205 and got the Downpipe with the 200cpsi euro high flow cats.

Here's a video of me revving with the exhaust flaps open and then the exhaust flaps closed(sport+/race and Comfort)

Here's a video of my car revving in sport+ and then a little take off. i didn't launch the car, tires were still pretty cold so first gear is an early shift but you get the point on how it sounds.

Hope this helps others with the decision!

I have the ModalWorks catless dp's and I would say I only really smell it if I am just idling in a spot with the windows open but overall its not bad.

Get some extra air freshener's that may help lol

Curious how much you paid for the custom tune, and what kind of gains you got from it?
also how much was the dp install, I'm considering using the same shop that you used.

oh awesome man, I have to say i highly recommend them. I actually know them from a site i used to frequent called dallasimports but didn't realize that until i talked with them for a bit. The install on the downpipe was $1000. Mainly because they have to drop the transmission to get it out properly. I think the tune was $600 mainly because the initial tune is a lot of care and feeding at first, once you get that done and subsequent changes in mods down the line are a lot cheaper to get a new tune put on.

I will say this shop actually came recommended to me by my service advisor at MB Plano. The main guy, Remington, is actually their old AMG Master Tech so they said to me that any bolt ons or tune that he does they don't have a problem warrantying any work on those cars. That is how i came across them and i felt a lot better about getting that work done. Now, there's risk with making any modifications to a car so i know that what they said may be somewhat supported but it's going to be a hell a lot easier to get something resolved IF anything does ever come up. Remington and Justin both are awesome at MMR. Justin actually did a full inspection on my car when it was on the lift and found a few strange issues like a rivet or two missing on the rear bumper and a VERY small ding on the inside of my wheel. It was crazy how meticulous he was with it.

As for power gains, i definitely feel a difference with the car than i did before. I have been having traction issues lately and haven't dyno'd it yet but i will probably go up to Jotech in the next month or so to see what it puts down. I only wish i would have dyno'd it before hand to get a baseline.

Feel free to PM me if you want to check the car out and see how you like the mods. Always down to meet another local MB guy!

For those on the fence about whether or to do catted or catless DPs i will tell you i was in the same boat. I opted to go ahead and get the high flow cats after seeing a video on here of someone with the high flows and felt like it was the right amount of sound with less worry about passing emissions or anything. I have to say i was glad i went this route. I have no regrets not getting catless. The sound is perfect, honestly it's pretty damn loud from stock and i checked out someone local who had catless DP's on his C63s coupe and the smell is what did it for me. I didn't want to worry about going somewhere and smelling like gas everytime.

Would aftermarket downpipes with high flow cats (100 or 200 cell) remove enough back pressure to allow for the use of a stage 2 tune?

From what I understand, a good quality HFC will flow 95% of the catless pipes. I’ve heard 95% to almost not noticeable at all.

I just can’t imagine running catless on a daily driven car or even a weekend car. Track dedicated car is where it makes sense to me. Just my opinion.

The flow percentage is in line with what I read as well. I have gone catless on a few of my prior daily driven cars and loved it for the first few weeks and regretted it due to smell shortly thereafter.
