PSM Style Diffuser

Has anyone installed a PSM Style diffuser from these guys before (link below)? Its non carbon (which is what I want) since my PFL C63s does not have any carbon fiber parts but does have the AMG night package so this should make the car look not too different from how it is now as OEM. However, I am wondering how good the fit is given its only $300...

I did not buy from them but also opted for the FRP and painted gloss black to match rest of exterior including night package. I would say go for it.

I'm also looking at non-CF diffuser options so interested in seeing this and any others that people come across. I actually prefer the CF look as I have CF mirrors/spoiler, but I want to retain use of the kick to open/close trunk function which CF diffusers typically screw up due to CF acting as a Faraday cage and preventing the kick sensor from "seeing" your leg.

I'd be concerned. Products look like black plastic (read: cheap quality)... IMO. Personally, I'd save my money and look for better. Your car. Your money.

$300 is a stupid good price because the real one is around 2K. My friend installed a fake PSM rear diffuser and we compared it to my authentic one. The shape is identical, but the fitment on his was a little wonky because it wasn't that straight in the area where the existing rear diffuser trim pops out above the muffler opening. Also the carbon weave on his looked atrocious, but your'e getting a black one anyways so it doesn't matter.

yeah, for $300 worth a shot - paint it gloss black and all good.

Just today I redid my brackets on mine...I put an entire "cross bar" in to connect left and right (just behind the wheel well) and then added brackets to hold the long under body panel in place so that it does not start moving at high speed. The guy from the shop who helped mentioned they do that on a lot of M3/4 diffuser as well, which also have those large underbody panels. Not sure if the CF versions are stiffer but just connecting it left and right to the bumper is not doing it - se be prepared for that no matter what version you buy. Also, installed my PSM Dynamics side skirts today. Getting the original is a hefty price and checking out the copy's can save you a lot.

Go for it: PSM front, sides, and rear

You need to drill holes for PSM original or copy...3 or 4 holes along each side of bumper edge to mount it. Comes with all screws and clips you need.Easy job.

Hey did you have to remove bumper to install the PSM one? You still have to remove the OEM one right?

I just got a PSM one with the side splitters and this shop didnt look too comfortable to install it so hopefully can get some answers from you. thanks

I have the sedan version and that does not have side splitters but is just one piece. Did not have to remove the bumper or OEM splitter except the trim pieces that clip on it. The diffuser sits on the ledge that the trim pieces use. I then painted both, the OEM and the PSM Style gloss black to match.

The biggest hassle was to add some additional structural support under the car. These diffusers are long and reach all the way forward to where the wheel well ends - lots of wind can get caught in there like a sail (even though it has the grill to let it flow through) and I did not feel comfy leaving it all like that just bolted left and right to the lower bumper. So, I made myself a aluminum bracket that connects between both bumpers at the most forward spot (right at the wheel well), mounted it against some sturdy mounting points I found in between underneath the car and then secured the diffuser to that aluminum bracket on 4 points. Since then, never had an issue. Also, if I ever have to get to my mufflers I need to take the diffuser off, it covers it entirely.

great explanation. Good thing I still have my OEM diffuser lying around.

Good point on the exhaust because ive been contemplating switching exhaust back to oem but at least this wont require the bumper to be taken off to remove

What are your guys' thoughts on RW Carbon for fit and finish? Their GTX kit looks like an exact replica of the PSM dynamic parts.

I have no complaints with RW Carbon. They added the Coupe CF Diffuser, Black Exhaust Tips and CF Side Skirt Extensions to my car...fit and finish are spot on...no problems at all

i also currently have the RW Carbon dtm diffuser installed. Fitment was great and its help up well over these three years.

*might* mess with your sensors though as my kick to open trunk sensor stopped working

Thanks both - the diffuser is probably the last part I'd get as I really like the kick to open trunk feature - but it's good to hear positive feedback. As long as RW's customer service is on point then I'm less worried about getting an iffy part if they're good with helping out/replacing!

Just an FYI, an assload of rocks and debris get caught inside the psm diffuser. You'll have to point the compressor gun inside the diffuser through the slits to remove them. Do it EVERY wash.
