Has anyone taken off the front bumper without propping the front up?

So I am in needing to fix something that requires me to remove my front bumper. I didn't want to buy a ramp or a floor jack just to do this one small task. So I am wondering if anyone has done this without propping the front up and was it difficult to reach them bolts for the liner?

Yes, it's possible. I've done it to swap headlights, etc without lifting by turning the wheel over all the way to access the bolts where it attaches to the fender while pulling back the liner. Getting to the bolt under the bumper in the center near the heat exchanger after you remove the lower tray can be a bit challenging.

Unless you are very skinny with long arms and a tiny head, I recommend jacking up the car. There are actually 2 bottom trays you have to remove. I managed to remove the first tray (closer to the bumper) without removing the second one. But problem arose when I tried reinstall it. You have to slide the tray back into the second tray. When I did this all the screw clips got shifted so the screws holes didn't line up. Ended up taking off the second tray to realign the screw clips. For safety, use jack with jack stands. Don't just use the jack by itself.

I did this 3 or so months ago and dont recall removing a second tray but could be wrong. I have short arms and a big head lol. You have to do it all by feel and be mindful how the tray wedges in while you take it out so you can put it back the same way. Obviously doing it jacked up would make it easier but I do not have a level driveway so was not an option.

Maybe not the most ideal solution but you could probably fit some wood 2x4 under the front tires and drive on top of them to get a couple extra inches of clearance.

I’ve removed the underside trays and they are a cinch with the car up on jack stands.

That would help, just be sure to get the fender bolts under the wheel wells by turning the wheel each way first before you drive up on the wood.

Also another tip is to mark the top screw positions in the slots on the top of the bumper with a marker . Makes it much easier to align for the same seam between hood and bumper after remounting
